LWIN LEE | Chakri Palace @ Pavillion KL

Are you looking for some real hot and tingling sensation food to sorta warm up yourself up, especially on a cool, showery day? Then dropping by at Chakri Palace for a hearty bowl of saporous Tom Yam surely would do the trick! This restaurant is well-known for its superb and authentic Thai unique culinary fares, prepared by award winning chefs.

Bear in mind, it is not for those faint-hearted foodie yea (me included), who has a much milder tongue when it comes to spicy hot stuff, so just get yourself prepared with some iced skyjuice along :)

But before that, let’s take a stroll around to have a quick glimpse of the exquisitely decorated restaurant, enhanced culturally by its beaux art of classic ornaments …………………………

……………to some wizardry hues added by the mystical blueish lighting at some corner. Sleek table setting seems to work hand in hand with its formal-cum-casual atmosphere, making it suitable for both types of gathering.

Now is the time to treat your taste buds and savour the true taste of Thailand, with Chakri Four Seasons, as the opening dish.

Chakri Four Seasons (MYR 39.90)

A mix of Chakri’s finest Thai fish cakes, spring rolls, sweet and spicy chicken, crispy prawn and mixed fruits.

The Thai fish cakes are very flavourful and bouncy, whilst the fried prawns and spring rolls are delectably crispy. But am wondering why the mixed fruits are over there, as it seems to be a bit of odd companion to the plate. Or is it meant to be home-style salad? Hmmm…………

The next ensued appetizer are none other than the quintessential Thai Mango Salad.

Thai Mango Salad (MYR 21.90)

A typical and signature dish to any Thai food- serving restaurants. Thinly sliced, crisp and sourish, but could be quite spicy too.

Next is the unmistakably Chakri’s rendition of the famous sour and spicy lemongrass soup served in your preferred soup base.

Chakri Clear Tom Yam- Bangkok Style (MYR 15.90)

Chakri Red Tom Yam- Southern Style (MYR 15.90)

Besides inspiring the gourmand palatably, this version also seems to be encouranging us to be more perspiring too! (pun intended) Hehe…………

Not enough of spicy kick! Then this Steamed Seabass with Lime & Chilli would further “spice up” your day!

Steamed Seabass with Lime & Chilli (MYR 32.90)

Fish is decently steamed in lime and chilli sauce, lending some buzzing, hot and tartness to the tongue. By the time you savour this up, most probably you are “overheated”, lolz………….. : )

Oh finally, here it comes my favourite and recommended bites, Traditional Pandan Chicken!

Traditional Pandan Chicken- 5 pcs (MYR 29.90)

Comes in a plate of thoroughly marinated chicken meat with Thai spices and wrapped in fragrant pandan leaves. Voluptuous, thumbs up!

Joining the feast is the Fried Squids. An all-time favourite snacks! :P

To balance out the diet, Broccoli Mushrooms with Oyster/ Garlic Sauce comes just in time to save the day!

Broccoli Mushrooms with Oyster/ Garlic Sauce (MYR 28.90)
Coarsely cut broccoli are evenly stir-fried with the rest of ingredients such as baby corns, carrot slices and shitake mushrooms, served with garlic and oyster sauce. A humble yet comfy food that bears some Oriental fusion in it.

Last but not least, to round up the feast as original as the Thai way, we have this Thai Mango with Sticky Rice as our dessert, albeit a warm one.

Thai Mango with Sticky Rice (MYR 19.90)

Cutlets of fresh mango served with sticky rice, covered in salted coconut milk. Not too rich but sufficient to inject some light creaminess to it.

I suppose tonight’s “exhaustive” sweating would help me make up to the gym class that I skip for the day, hahahah…………… Cheerios!
