LWIN LEE | CAFFÉ GINO @ ISETAN FOODMARKET, SURIA KLCC

Simplistic yet chic retro setting is what eventually draws me over at Caffé Gino during one snack-spree evening after work.

As a brand infused with some Japanese element, of course am all up to try out its quintessential specialty; green tea beverages!

Another contender in the growing gourmet coffee pool, Caffé Gino offers the Matcha Cappuccino for those with caffeine intolerance. Green tea has been long known to be a great herbal panacea with many health benefits so you’ll be happy to know that their Matcha Cappuccino is made from 100 per cent Uji Cha. Opened by Japanese master roaster Kiyohisa Fugino two years ago, Caffé Gino also introduces other specialties such as Drink-Gino Mojito, Cafe Marocchino and Baby Chocolotta.

MATCHA LATTE (MYR 12.90)

Very strong authentic green tea taste, if you know how to appreciate it. After all, it’s kinda acquired taste to some people, but I personally endear it much (=

If you’re looking for good lattes to pair with the shortcakes at the foodmarket, Caffé Gino is right next door. Or if you feel like going loose on diet this moment, then join me in my dessert adventure of matcha ice cream further. After all, I think green tea confectionary wouldn’t hurt so bad right? (Ok, I might be bit bias as am a huge fan of matcha after my love for cheese, hehe)

IMURAYA MATCHA & RED BEAN CUP
Delightfully dense with green tea flavor, naturally sweetened by the azuki.

LOTTE SOH UJI MATCHA
Comparatively with Imuraya’s, this is more friendly to general palate, not too thick in matcha taste, and more sorbet-like texture.

MORINAGA MILK PINO MACHA
Don’t belittle this humble sized poppers, for it’s equally moreish with its peers. A bit stronger hint as you bite into the centre.

OHAYO GREEN TEA MILK MONAKA
Somewhat more like an ice cream wafer cake, it goes easy on the grassy hint with a light wafer sandwich.

FUTABA UJI MACHA MILK BAR
This ultimately my fave pick of all! Never fail to entice me in every return with its unmistakable macha creaminess within, enveloped in a layer of nutty matcha ganache. Awesomely crème de la crème!

There are actually much more interesting food and beverages from the Land of Rising Sun that you could get from this Japanese foodmarket. It’s located on the ground floor from the Isetan’s department store at Suria KLCC. Happy shopping guys!

Can’t have enough of matcha treats? Check out at Wa Café too for more taste bud regalement.  (✿◠‿◠)
