SKIPPYS PIZZA @ UPTOWN, PETALING JAYA

As sheerly acclaimed, Skippys Pizza is a real pork company that specializes in pork as well as vegetarian pizza for vegan folks. Apart from that, diners could also expect homey medley of Italian pastas, burgers, seafood and many more. Of course, personally we are already eyeing on its métier, pizza!

All the pizza dough here is homemade using olive oil, same goes to their special sauces infused with sunflower oil that as a whole makes quite a robust, flavourful pairing with both the pizza and also its main dishes. Don’t be surprise that there is indeed a spicy sauce (somewhat resembles Pan Mee’s hot chili flakes toppings) meant to go along with the pizza too (=

CHILI MUSSELS (MYR 32)
Mussels were fresh and bouncy, in the prickling hot broth that hovered between sweet and spicy sensation. But still not as challenging to the faint tongue compared to the spicy aglio olio, woosh!

GARLIC/ CHEESE BUN (MYR 10)
The buttered burger bread spreaded with freshly chopped garlic was a pretty good idea to me, best enjoyed while hot once served for that crusty crunch! Goes well with the chili mussels too.

PORK RIBS (MYR 25)
Makes a decent bar snack especially when accompanied by a couple of beers (=

Ribs were decently coated with glazed layer that tickles you with its caramel-like sweetness. If the meat were to be more copious, depending of the cut, it would be much more satisfying!

CARBONARA (MYR 17.90)
Carbonara was nice with decent creaminess without overdoing it, with luscious bacon and mushroom slices. Makes pretty toothsome grubs whenever hankering for some luscious pasta.

AGLIO OLIO WITH BACON –SPICY/ NON SPICY (MYR 16.90)
We tried the spicy version and concluded that, this is definitely not for the faint-tongues as it can get fierily hot thereafter. Unless you’re a fan of really spicy food, please be prepared with some iced drinks along, hehe.

LAMB BURGER WITH FRIES (MYR 18.90)

PROSPERITY BURGER (MYR 1690)
The second burger, I suppose is of pork patty based, which surprised my taste bud with the unexpected fusion of Chinese sausage (lap cheong) into the patty! Wow, now that it’s an interestingly cheeky idea to explore further and who say those ‘lap cheong’ is only meant for either fried rice or lotus leaf rice? Hehe…….

LAMB PIZZA 12 INCH (MYR 27.90)

Freshly dished up from the oven equipped with minced lamb, sun-dried tomatoes, bell peppers, olives and onion

Pizza was appealing on the thin crust, allowing diners to enjoy the light crispiness with bounteous toppings. Perhaps some tweaks to the topping flavour would improve it a whole lot, giving it another dimension which otherwise, appeared tad bland to the palate. Unless, you enjoy some garlicky and chili paste on top of your Italian delights.

We enjoyed the ambiance undeniably- cozy enclave to catch up with buddies for some chatters over yummy chucks.  As for the burgers, the overall presentation could be made much more appealing with additional little creative efforts in its garnishment of varieties of ingredients. Other than that, they are good to go and no doubt, they are maestro in their pizza forte!
