RESTAURANT LUI CHA KING 客家雷茶 @ KEPONG BARU

Feeling satisfied that finally fixed my craving for an authentic recipe of Hakka Lui Cha delicacy here at LUI CHA KING 客家雷茶! Thanks to that foodie friend who drove me (and gladly also enjoy this ‘healthy green’ dish) all the way here from Bangsar that lazy afternoon after some Zentangledrawing session at Tedboy Bakery (=

So here we are, at the humble Hakka restaurant of Lui Cha specialist, run by homely senior folks and assisted by their younger kin. Thank god it is air-conditioned; otherwise, we would be dehydrated by the scorching hot weather outside that afternoon.

Bright place with decent movement space, after all, they are selling what they served best- Lui Cha, and not the many cakes and coffee treats like other cafes whereby most foodie would turn the place ‘upside down’ with their assorted style of photographing for insta-worthy pics and the need to have a sunlight-illuminated corner. So, you get to really enjoy the heritage delicacy sensuously and not too get carried away with shutterbugs instinct.

Drinks to cool down the heat- Iced Nescafe (MYR 3) and Yong Sam Sou drink (MYR 2.50- American ginseng fiber - 洋参须)- I was hoping the traditional tonic to be home-cooked by the way (=

Lui Cha (MYR 7)
A bowl of nutritious rice that comes with various accompaniments of chopped veggies, mung beans, diced bean curd and pickled radish too (my fave), and served along the main highlight of the dish- Lui Cha soup!

Traditionally, the Hakka Lui Cha is eaten by first pouring in the soup into the mixed rice bowl before stirring them evenly and enjoyed. But that way proved to be tad challenging for me as the rice get soggy up faster than my speed of consumption, hence I prefer to have them separately; sipping the herb soup while basking in the toothsome rice slowly.

Needless to say, it’s a wonderful ‘green’ session before we proceed further with more ‘greeneries’ of matcha at Subang Jaya. Will be sharing it as well soon!

Cheers for now and follow us at Carpe Diem for more ‘food-ful’ discoveries! ❤ℒℴѵℯ❤

马华鹅唛(DATUK YIP KUM FOOK, MCA CHAIRMAN GOMBAK)
你是SAMNAK SAMBODHI BUDDHIST TEMPLE 菩提佛寺的主席:No: -19 Jalan 38 Taman Desa Jaya, Kepong 52100 Kuala Lumpur。
