TRAVEL DAY 1 | 5D 4 N @ HONG KONG & MACAU
After watching TVB series and enjoying the evergreen songs by Hong
Kong stars especially the 4 HeavenlyKings all these years, finally it’s time to pay a visit to the copious skyscrapers-dense
city itself, albeit an impromptu one, without any itinerary- seriously? Oh yes!
(=
Huge and see-through glass of Apple store! |
The quick excursion was a memorable one, despite flying over there
without any preplanned places to go, at most maybe just some brief, famous
spots lingering in the mind, but was glad that the short vacay got executed
pretty well (and I’m under good hands too), thanks to Romeo the savior! Hehe….
And so, after reaching Hong Kong’s airport, finally I found my way
out after several twist and turnings, haha, and Romeo was already waiting for
my arrival- that really gave me a warm relief as this is my first time “escaping”
alone from home, so to say, hahaha………
Still in time to catch
some quick glimpse of the scenery outside the glass while commuting in their
express airport train. Oh, do remember to buy the Octopus Card
before you leave airport so could travel more conveniently via MRT in the city
later. Just a mere HKD 150 (Deposit-
50, Add Value-100) for
initial top up will do, as you could reload again at any convenience shop or
MRT stations once you reach the city- Central in my case.
After settling the luggage at abode and a fast walkathon down the
stairs of Mid Peak Central, we headed to 蘭芳園 Lan
Fong Yuen at Central for breakie- just like how the Hongkie have been
enjoying their daily first meal of the day!
6-min walk from Exit C, Hong Kong MTR Station
So we called for the
popular order of the house- Dry ‘Ting
Ting’ Noodle with Pork Chop and a soupy version of Macaroni with Pork Chop for myself. Ah, not to forget to have Hong
Kong’s signature drink- Milk Tea to clear the throat too.
With lots of yummy chopped chives and succulent, well-marinated pork chop! |
.......and i still prefer my macaroni baked the cheesy way, hehe. But the pork chop was noteworthy really. |
Subsequently, we wander
around, gazing at the many tall, impressive skyscrapers that we happened to
pass by, with The One at Granville Road included, before ended
up at a Miramar Shopping Centre, Tsim Tsa Tsui due to a sudden light
pour- where I found a dolce retreat to fix my coffee craving instead!
Simply in awe with the vintage design! |
La Tradicion Cubana Fine Cigar it is!
A place for a simple café and
confectionary!
Address: 3013 E, 3/F, Miramar
Shopping Centre, 132 Nathan Road, Tsim Tsa Tsui, Hong Kong
The design of the premise is
no different than any other cozy ordinary café but poised to be more elegantly
welcoming for the curious cats and beavers who need some caffeine fix in the
town. It boasts a very tranquil respite especially after a sunny walk, coupled
with genial and friendly staff to spice up your day further!
As we were there after
late lunch, so we heeded on the crew’s suggestion to try out their special Tea
Time Set of any Coffee that comes with either croissant or French macaroons-
and Romeo let me decide on which flavor to go- raspberry of course! Being a
berries lover (=
Mocha + A.O.P Butter Croissant (HKD 36)
Café Latte + Raspberry Macaroon (HKD 34)
Mocha infused with 100%
Venezuala Cacao
Latte with Baruffee Estate
single origin medium dark roast
After which we continued
strolling and got captivated by the opulence architecture of The Peninsula Hotel- touted one of the
most exclusive hotels brand in the world. The view of the building lighted in
warm neons with fountain remains enchanting both during the day and night.
Kowloon Park
Address: Kowloon Park Sports Centre, 22 Austin Rd, Tsim Sha

MTR Tsim Sha Tsui Station,
Exit A1
Alright, let’s not get too
carried away with the Victorian styled building and slowly made a beeline for this
region famous Mango Dessert at Hui Lau
San before heading to Arena of Stars to catch the panoramic Symphony of
Lights at Victoria Harbour.
Jumbo Set perfect for 2pax-sharing (HKD 36)
Hui Lau San
Address: Shop B, G/F, Kok Pah
Mansion, 58-60 Cameron Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui
4-min

Symphony of Lights
at Victoria Harbour
Address: Avenue of Stars
Take Hong Kong MTR
to East Tsim Sha Tsui Station Exit J, and follow the signs to the Avenue of
Stars and Tsim Sha Tsui Waterfront.
** Unfortunately, visitors
are unable to appreciate the show at the Star Avenue because it's closed for renovation until
the end of 2018.
Now this laser display
show revives back the vivid memories of such illuminating night at Marina BaySands while dining under the shades of Fullerton Square.

Hong Kong famous landmark!
Soon, tummy started
gnawing and that’s when we were reminded to catch our delayed dinner at Bafang Yunji 八方雲集-
a Dumpling Restaurant in Mong Kok serving decently juicy meaty pork dumplings set with Taiwanese Mee Sua (vermicelli) at HKD 36 and Romeo’s choice of Taiwan Beef Noodle (HKD 48) - one of the quintessential
dish back in Taiwan.
Address: G/F, Will Strong
Development Building, 59 Parkes Street, Jordan
2-min
walk from Exit C2, Jordan MTR Station
And the visit to Mong Kok
area wouldn’t be complete without trying the famous street food- curry fish
balls, as recommended by the affable staff of La Tradicion Cubana earlier on.
Thus, we only bought a handful which was just nice for binging after a filling dinner
at Bafang Yunji 八方雲集 just a moment ago.
Sneakers Street was already closed by the time we reached, so we
thought, why not another quick round of dessert snacking at Yee Shun Dairy Company (港澳義順牛奶公司) for its signature Steamed Milk Custard, before heading home via Prince Edward MTR Station to
Central? Ah, not forgetting to pack some juicy and pulpy big cherries back to crib as well (=
Address: Prince Edward Yeung Choi
Street (太子西洋菜南街244號)
2-min walk from Exit B2, Prince Edward MTR Station
Guess
that sums up my very first day in Hong Kong in a pretty much accomplished and
fun-packed (or rather food-packed) day huh? Merci Romeo for bearing with me
with all the food-spotting, haha. Alright guys, I shall be updating Day 2
travelogue soon, so stay tuned!
Cheers for now and follow us at Carpe Diem for more ‘food-ful’ discoveries! ❤ℒℴѵℯ❤
