THE 11TH ANNUAL MUHIBBAH CHRISTMAS PARTY @ BERJAYA TIMES SQUARE HOTEL by PERTUBUHAN AMAL BOG KUALA LUMPUR DAN SELANGOR
In line with the true
spirit of Christmas, it is truly heartwarming to find people still willing to
put a smile on the faces of the less fortunate.
Kudos
go to Pertubuhan Amal BOG Kuala Lumpur
dan Selangor for organising yet again another lavish celebration that depicts
a true Malaysian Christmas hosting 1,000 special guest (old folks, mentally
challenged, the blind, deaf, orphans, single mothers, refugees etc) and 250
volunteers at the Berjaya Times Square
Hotel, Kuala Lumpur (Manhattan Grand
Ballroom) on Dec 17 from 2pm to 10pm.
It
was indeed a night filled with joy and laughter for the guests from some 50 to
60 homes around the Klang Valley. Each guest was treated to an exciting
fun-filled evening with games, entertainment, party packs, personalised gifts
and an eight-course dinner in the ballroom.

The
organisation’s president Reverend
Aloysious Lopez said the aim of the annual event is to treat some 1,000
guests, from a multiracial background, as “kings” and “queens” for a day, in
line with the theme of the season – giving and sharing. He stressed that the
party, held successfully over the years, has no religious or political agenda.
It is also to show this group of people that despite the challenges they go
through they are still loved and cared by our society. As they are not so
different from us, they too deserve to have a good time.
“The success of the
annual celebration is firstly due to God’s grace and also due to the generous
contributions from well-wishers which cuts across the different races and creeds,”
said Rev Lopez.
Like
in previous years, Pertubuhan BOG extended invitations to different homes.
Among the homes were Pusat Majudiri ‘Y’ for the Deaf, Malaysian Rare Disorders
Society, National Stroke NASAM (stroke patients going through treatment),
National Sports Paralympics Team, National Autism Society, Victory Elderly
Centre, Syrian Community, UNCHR Iranian Refugess, Rohingya Community, Spastic
Children Association and many more.
In
the ballroom’s foyer, there were 27 carnival booths that were in operation from
2pm to 6pm and the games were opened to all age groups. Some of the games
included Hot Wheels, Inflatable’s and Ring Toss while there were also pampering
booths that gave guests massages, pedicures, manicures, make-up and hair
styling. There was Santa’s Photobooth, candy floss and popcorn that guests
enjoyed.
The
carnival atmosphere was something children and older folks alike enjoyed as
many of them do not normally have opportunities to interact with friends and do
not have the finances to pay for these games otherwise. Prizes were also
awarded not only to the winners but to all participants too.
As
soon as the doors to the ballroom were open guests enjoyed an 8-course sit down
dinner with a night filled with entertainment ranging from cultural
performances, Lion dance, musical performances, an appearance from Santa and
Santarina and loads more. Towards the
end of the evening volunteers were on hand to distribute personalized gifts to
all guests.
The
event was also a success due to the strong support and contributions from
friends, Intermovers (sponsored the party packs), Bangsar South Rotarians
(sponsored the game booths), foreign students from Netherlands – Asia School of
Business collaboration with MIT Sloan University (handled the Princess and
Pirate Booth) as well as the volunteers from the Girl Guides and IM4U.
Previous venues of
Muhibbah Christmas events were the Pullman Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Vivatel Hotel,
Palace of the Golden Horses (four times), The Royal Chulan and Berjaya Hotel
(fourth time). For those who would like to make contributions as part of philanthropist’s
