TIN PLATE KITCHEN & BAR @ TEKAPO, NEW ZEALAND

Life’s been treating us pretty good- blessed with good weather of exuberant sunrays, smooth and relaxing journey as most grateful was the many beautiful scenery that Mother Nature has bestowed to us. We are indeed counting our blessing thought it’s only been 3 days here in New Zealand.

After a quick stroll at the nearby Church of the GoodShepherd, we head over to the nearby town in search for some homey food to fill up the hungry tummy after a long day ahead. And there’s when we found the quaint restaurant of Tin Plate.

Night was rather cold as temperature tends to drop rather fast after sunset, we were pleased to see there was a lighted hearth in the restaurant and instantly felt warm as if it’s Yuletide soon, hehe. You know, back here in Asia, we hardly had the chance to experience the wonders of seasonal climate, hehe. And that made it more precious! (=

Menu selection was lovely and so, we went with the best of the day from the kitchen.

Soup of the day (NZD 12)
Kumara and Parmesan Soup

Trust me, the soup was real goooddd…………

Fish of the day (NZD 28)
Poached Monkfish with roasted potato and mesclun

Generous portion of fish fillet was nicely pan-fried till slightly browned on the outside while the interior still remained that juicily sweet and tender.

Brownie (MYR 12)
Double chocolate brownie, hokey pokey ice cream and berry compote

Couldn’t ask for more- I’m not a usual brownie person, but somehow magically got spellbound by this moreish home-baked decadent piece that left me yearning for more. Love the accompanying refreshing berry compote that went really well with the chocolaty bites beside the dollop of ice cream. Finally I got to taste the hokey pokey! (=

After wrapping up the feast on a sweet note, we drove to nearby shops to get some nosh for the next morning- and I guiltlessly came back with loots of chips and ice creams!!

Kapiti and Tip Top!
After all, it’s not that we can’t have them as the first meal of the day right? Just the matter of preference and yeah they are my fave stuffs and could potentially be my anytime staples, hehe.

And so, we went back to our cozy crib for that night at Lake Tekapo Motel & Holiday Park after some lackluster attempt in stargazing using only my Samsung S7 Edge- as that bulky Nikon suddenly threw tantrum by unable to focus on subject at night, jeez! Perhaps due to the slightly lower temperature as the benefit of doubts :D

Cheers for now and follow us at Carpe Diem for more ‘food-ful’ discoveries! ❤ℒℴѵℯ❤
