Erik’s Fish & Chips @ Queenstown, New Zealand






Tummy definitely gnawing after some few hours’s rides uphill at Skyline Queenstown Gondola- I mean how not to when you need to withstand some 10°C or lower temperature after just some quick nosh from High Country Salmon earlier during the day? Hehe…







 
So here we are, seeking shelter for some warm and comfort food at Erik’s Fish and Chips!
It took us awhile before we finally located it at some corner from the main street along Fergburger, also one of our favourite spot for yummies!



 


Over here at Erik’s Fish and Chips, patrons could opt to dine in at their little but comfy container dining or takeaway, which is more commonly preferred by the locals here.



Erik’s fish and chips have a dedicated gluten-free kitchen, so it’s the perfect takeaway food for celiac diets. On top of that, they are nut-free, fish is freshly sought daily from Dunedin and most of its food is 100% dairy-free. Therefore, anyone could easily and safely enjoy the best takeaway fish and chips without worrying any food allergies and intolerances.




Erik serves up the traditional Kiwi favourites, like battered Blue Cod and Hoki, tasty calamari rings and of course the humble chips. For something a little different, I think we should have also tried their popular cauliflower bites, red onion wedges or also handmade hot dogs that have been crafted by Erik himself. If you’re feeling more adventurous, go wild with their deep fried kiwifruit or banana desserts. Why have I possibly missed it being the curious foodie of me? Then I guess perhaps that time the area was a little dim and we were starving, so just go with those savoury items listed on the top, hehe. Worry not, I shall keep that in mind the next time I’m back to NZ! (=




HOKI FISH (AUD 5)
A mild fish flavour, slightly oily with a finer texture that is sourced from South Island Seas.


BLUE COD (9.95)
A local favourite with great texture and lovely flavour. Caught in the bottom half of the South Island.



CALAMARI (AUD 8)
6 pieces of Delicious Calamari from the South Island seas dusted with salt and pepper. Easily makes one of the best snacks!

 

BLUFF OYSTER (AUD 3.50)
Bluff Oysters- just inform them whether you would like to have them fresh (raw) or cooked.
  
SCALLOPS (AUD 3.50)
A delectable, juicy shellfish that is battered before deep fried till golden brown.




However, if you don’t feel like walking out, braving through the chilly night to get your hands on the toothsome best-in-town fish and chips, fret not as Erik got this well managed! You may actually place your order online at their webpage, Facebook message or just download their apps for much more convenience, and then you anticipated nosh shall be ready for pickup usually in 15minutes depending on demand and crowd at times. So just sit back, enjoy yourselves and delicious dinner will be on the way.

 

Just before heading back to crib, we took a quick stroll nearby Wakatipu lake, enjoying the serenity of the night with some cool breeze from the lake- indeed a blissful moment to behold……………….
