CAPE LEEUWIN LIGHTHOUSE @ AUGUSTA, WA
As soon as we’ve done the fun climbing at Diamond Tree in Manjimup (it was
my first time though, hehe), we swiftly headed over to the captivating
lighthouse in order to make the best out of the very blessed nice weather on
that day.
While cruising along the way, only now i started to realize
that the oceanic mood was slowly kicking in finally- compared to somewhat
rather challenging mundane experience during the earlier drive from Perth to Albany where there was hardly
any scenic sights to soothe the weary eyes while driving long hours, hehe.
Therefore, seeing that familiar and much anticipating view
of vast blue horizon and ocean immediately rejuvenated us once again! We were
already able to spot the tall lighthouse from afar while still some 30 minutes’
drive away from the destination. Of course, we took the opportunity to also
snap some beautiful sunny picture as we passed by the splendid coastal road of
Cape Leeuwin.
Soon we arrived at Cape
Leeuwin Lighthouse!
We then quickly signed up for the next lighthouse tour which
will take place in another 15 minutes’ time, thank god. We went for Augusta Icons Pass at AUD 36 per pax that
covers Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse as well as Jewel Cave.
Our tour was led by a very knowledgeable and friendly guide.
Along the way, we did come across spaciously built houses that's so charming that i wish i could have one back homeland bearing similar design, hehe.
Brief Info on Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse
Cape Leeuwin
Lighthouse is 10 minutes south of Augusta, at the very end of the Leeuwin Road.
Situated at the
most south-westerly point of Australia, Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse is the tallest
lighthouse on mainland Australia. Cape Leeuwin is also the point where the
Indian Ocean meets the Southern Ocean. It's also one of the best land-based
vantage points for spotting whales from May - September!
The historic
Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse at Augusta is situated at the tip of a spectacular
peninsula where the Southern and Indian Oceans meet - the most south-westerly
point of Australia. Take a trip through maritime history and learn how this
famous landmark was constructed from local limestone in 1895, and is still a
vital working lighthouse for vessels navigating the treacherous cape. As the
tallest lighthouse on mainland Australia, Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse is a must-see
attraction in Margaret River Region.
Blessed with nice weather showered with warm sun rays gently slicing through the architecture amidst the autumn wind certainly makes it a serene moment to behold. We shall share the enchanting Jewel of the region; Jewel Cave in the next post yea, please stay tuned!
~ Just too much photos to select from, haha (= After all, that’s the largest show cave in the whole WA, wow!
