ENCHANTING FRENCH DESSERT @ NAMELAKA PATISSERIE, JALAN TELAWI, BANGSAR

Being an avid fan of anything about Lescure and Elle & Vire, besides having a yen for refined French patisserie, Namelaka is definitely a welcomed joyful addition to the brisk neighbourhood of Bangsar.

Established in 2018, Namelaka is a modern and ultra-refined way to enjoy the immaculately handcrafted desserts that are actually too beautiful to be eaten, hehe. It is currently located at the first floor, opposite Devi’s Corner Curry House.

This minimalist café which is only one month’s old during the time of our visit, embarks mostly with a sleek white-themed interior, giving it a bright and clean environment, so that we could focus on its forte- the aerated and fluffy ganache montée-centric morsels, or known to the laymen as mounted ganache where it is a technique, used to give sauces texture, flavor and a glossy appearance.

And what is meant by Namelaka by the way? Sounds familiar with our very own beloved heritage state of Melaka, but not to be mistaken with that. The term here actually has another different meaning in its Japanese origin, whereby it signifies a ‘creamy texture’ resulted from a great technique taken from Valrhona School. Basically a recipe of a ganache made with milk, emulsified, gelatin added, and then finished with cream- of course, with the relevant skills as well.

Among the handcrafted masterpieces are……………………….

Green Apple (MYR 19)

Chocolate, Apple Ganache Montee, Apple Gel, Fresh Apple Cube & Dill

Orange (MYR 21)

Chocolate, Orange Ganache Montee, Orange Gel, Marmalade, Fresh Orange Segment & Timut Pepper

Pear (MYR 21)

Chocolate, Pear Ganache Montee, Pear Gel & Fresh Pear Cube

Passion Fruit (MYR 23)

Chocolate, Ginger Ganache Montee, Passion Fruit Gel & Fresh Passion Fruit

Lemon (MYR 23)

Chocolate, Lemon Ganache Montee, Lemon Gel, Lemon Marmalade, Fresh Lemon Segment & Fresh Mint Leaf

If you were to ask me which would be my favorite, it has got to be the passion fruit! I love how refreshingly it is being made with the zesty tartness while accentuated by the nuance of ginger too. Just in case you are yet to know, I’m also a huge buff of Key Lime Pie, so anything that is subtly sour is always good for me! (=

So here you go your 5 Fruits of the Day!

Do make your reservation 2 days in advance, for all the decadent patisserie is freshly made daily and won’t be kept till the next day. Now you know how stringent they are towards upkeeping their food quality while at the same time assuring you are getting the best, allowing you to satiate your sweet tooth craving earnestly.

For those who are up for more adventurous and ingeniously elaborated piece of finesse, then thou shall not miss the captivating Rubic Cube (MYR 220) which consists of various flavours in the cubic composition namely Orange, Apple, Lemon, Passion fruit, Pear and mixed nuts filling underway too. Price is slightly premium in this creation for the tremendous efforts involved behind in the preparations beforehand, which now explains why this order dictates 3 days in advance for reservation. So do check it out soon!

And of course, some thirst quenchers and delicate cup of joe to wrap the sweet indulgence session perfectly.

Latte and Mocha (MYR 11)

Mocktails from MYR 13 per glass.

Mango Strawberry
Passion Fruits

Pineapple Mint
Golden Pear Apple
