ECHO IN THE NIGHT VOL. 4 FEATURING SUSHI HIBIKI (鮨ひびき) & JEREMY MONTEIRO TRIO @ NO BLACK TIE

Time really flies……. in just the wink of an eye, the popularly anticipated monthly series by Sushi Hibiki has now come to its fourth inception following its previous illustrious trilogy with various thematic collaboration.

This time round at Echo In The Night Vol.4, we have the aesthetic addition from one of the top jazz pianists in Asia who is touted as ‘Singapore’s King of Swing’ back in his native country, Jeremy Monteiro, teaming up with his versatile trio of guest bassist Rudi Engel from Germany and drummer Aaron James Lee

Together, they played a selection of jazz standards and original compositions to keep both art lovers and bon vivants accompanied throughout, serenading the crowds mellifluently with melodious tunes that evening at No Black Tie while relishing in refined fête crafted by Executive Sushi Chef Makoto Saito Sam (Founder & Owner of Sushi Hibiki) in this unparallel kitchen setting, pairing with some fine sake selections.

The multi-talented Singer-Composer as well as Music Educator, Jeremy Monteiro is currently in his 43rd year as a professional musician, and having performed with a wide range of jazz musicians from James Moody to Simon & Garfunkel, as he assembles a very special trio of musicians whom he often plays with separately.

For this dulcet date, the band of trinity which is helmed by Jeremy playing at the stage of No Black Tie, is composed of German Rudi Engel and the rising young blood; Aaron James Lee.

On bass is Rudi Engel who has played Jeremy’s last 8 album projects which were recorded in Germany. Rudi has also appeared with Jeremy on numerous live shows in Germany and Switzerland, most notably at the oldest jazz club in Germany, the Jazzkeller in Frankfurt. Rudi is also a member of the Ernie Watts Quartet.
On drums is one of the fastest rising jazz stars in our region, the young and talented drummer Aaron James Lee. In January, Aaron travelled with Jeremy and the Jazz Association Singapore Orchestra (JASSO) to play at the Jazz Education Network Conference to perform as the President’s choice at the 2019 JEN Conference.

So what could possibly transcend in this harmonious coalescence of honeyed tones from the cello, piano and drums delivered by Jeremy & Trio, while savouring Sushi Hibiki’s moreish culinary regalia within the perfect warm and sensuous setting of No Black Tie? But first, let’s have a quick toast before the official commencement of the jazzy night, いただきます!
