ENCHANTING STATE-OF-THE-ART HERITAGE PERFORMANCE @ 360° ROTATING STAGE, ENCORE MELAKA

After recent stints of culinary art discovery particularly in the refined Omakase course by Sushi Hibiki in its several elaborated Echo Series, it’s prime time to make some esthetic shift in focusing the prowess of fine art- the Impression and Encore Series produced by Impression Wonders team which rivets the performance heart and soul under natural settings as well as interactive way.

 

 This impressionistic series of Encore Melaka is directed by renowned Wang Caoge- who also previously co-directed the official opening ceremony at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. This state-of-the-art performance is choreographed at Southeast Asia’s first 360 degree rotating audience platform that is set to vow your unwavering attention to this aesthetic Baba Nyonya Culture show, with its first inception project was founded alongside by leading Chinese directors Zhang Yimou, Fan Yue and Wang Chaoge herself.

  

This innovative art production has become the beacon of excellence pioneering in live performances, which has since garnered numerous international recognition. And now, this stunning theatre experience incorporating with advanced lighting techniques, 3D technology visual effect, creative choreography and original music, has been brought forth and nearer to the folks of Malaysia at Encore Melaka, located at the prime new cultural-integrated development by Yong Tai Berhad called Impression City.

 

 Patrons to this 70-minutes heritage depiction of cultural assimilation would be treated to seven untold stories of indigenous settlement with unique mix of multi-ethnicity and cultural diversity during the early days of Malacca town. The show is performed by 200 local artistes, within an understated and yet sophisticated theatre of rotating auditorium with multiple-stage of 240m in length.

 

Audience would then be taken through on a tour of vivid audio and lighting episodes combinations of forgotten scenes which is now coming into life- once again, namely Parameswara, Cheng Ho, Nyonya & Wedding, Six Mothers, Pregnant Mothers, Wau (unique craft of the city) and last but not least the grand Finale encompassing the tranquility of The Straits of Malacca. Not becoming a spoiler to your anticipation, thence the rest of the details shall be uncovered by your esteemed self soon.

What kept me mesmerized was the fact that the stage is constructed on multiple built-in hydraulics which then gives out that realistic feel to its audience as they dive in the chronicles of Malacca. Personally, I’m intrigued by its coeval and Zen water drum performance that was harmoniously executed with the alternating beams of blue and white hue, leaving behind an impactful message.

 

This new art genre is set within an awe-inspiring geometric ceiling of concaved arcs which is made out of thousands of fish scale-like LED panels that is purposed for reflecting the light from the ever-changing nightscape of Malacca. Such complementing design actually embodies the essence of serene movement between the cloud and the sea where the East meets West. This unconventional concept makes the unparallel journey well taken through time and space, equilibrating the performance distinctively of Encore Melaka.

  

Ultimately, this jaunt to the UNESCO World Heritage City of Melaka has been a wonderful one, with an evening of immersive experience that would remain vividly in the memory of ‘heart-disk’.
