CANAL ROCKS @ YALLINGUP, WESTERN AUSTRALIA

As we continued the journey around the rest of Yallingup area, I brought along the Lavender cone that was still nice to me for not melting out fast. So I practically carried it along as pillow and I resume our coastal venture on foot as the famous spot- Canal Rocks was just nearby Cape Lavender Tea House.
Canal Rocks is made up of a series of beautiful granite outcrop that is part of the rugged Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park in the Indian Ocean, which is just off the coast situated approximately 4km south of Yallingup in the South West region of Western Australia. This place is well known and excellent for fishing activities and scenic bushwalking, about 3 hours’ drive from the south of Perth.
Sources from Department of Environment and Conservation on the canals creation :-
“ Pounding waves off the Indiana Ocean have sculptured a network of canals into this headland, forming a patchwork of rocky islands.
This unusual pattern of coastal erosion is controlled by an intersecting system of joints, fractures and faults within the gnesis. It allows the water to deeply penetrates the rock, eroding it to form linear-shaped canals.
Similar canals, though less well developed, can be seen on the headland to the north.”
A narrow timber walkway allows for easy access and great views of the rushing ocean beneath. The timber pathway meanders around and across the rocks, taking in grand seascapes with swirling water to little pools and lagoons.
So what kind of scenic fruit that we were able to reap from the trip hike? As faith had it, we were rewarded with stunning panoramic views over the Indian Ocean coupled with relaxing windy breeze from the sea, blissful!
A finger jetty and boat ramp as part of the facilities offered.
We must say that we were indeed blessed and grateful for all the lovely weather that had been bestowed to us thus far.
Despite all the glaring rays shining fiercely on top of us as we were walking on the rocks, seeing the splendidly pristine ocean made it worthwhile indeed. We won’t hesitate to have it another round and shall continue for the sake of common interest and unparallel chemistry. Up next will be another brief footprint at Cape Naturaliste and Meelup Beach!
