STREET FOOD HOPPING @ GEORGE TOWN

Well, initially was rather doubtful whether able to lay out a joyful food tripping session for Pillow during this ad hoc excursion to the island. Ideally, it supposed to serve as a good overview of Penang’s best street food that was not touristy but nearest to local’s favourite as far as possible.
Despite being a Penangite myself who spends most of the time in KL, I wouldn’t have the best advice on that matter. But thankfully, the angel came to me from the cheeky and yet humble amigo (also hails from Penang) who is a hard-core of Penang food advocate too, same goes to me. Of course, I’m incomparable to such seasoned and down-to-earth Chef buddy who cooks really mouthwatering Penang food- comes with good ‘wok hei’ seriously, I’m not pulling your leg. And he is Chef Arthur by the way (=
So Arthur came to my rescue by sharing his ideas and favourite spots for ‘makan place’ whenever he returns to Penang, even during his hectic kitchen schedule of a prestige hotel as I’m travelling the very next day. Sorry bro, but really appreciate that!  ♥♥
Hence, after buckling up with all the great suggestions of those hidden earnest place, I’m pretty much confident to lead the way- despite still being constantly teased by Pillow for depending on Waze even when going around in my hometown. Some I don’t even know exists pardon me, hehe. But they are toothsomely inviting indeed.
There you go, those bulletproof eateries that are tastefully convincing and I would love to be back again- especially for the herbal soup noodle to try out other poultry toppings such as duck, pork ribs and others. They ran out by the time we reached- what to do, late riser weekenders! Haha…..

Basically, they are quite nearby to where we were lodging at Deluxcious Hotel.
Tiger Char Koay Teow (Duck Egg) & Lobak @ Carnarvon Street
Spice Pisa Café @ Relau, Bayan Lepas
Pak Din Nasi Dalcha @ Jalan Jelutong
Leisure Artsy-cum-Dessert Stroll @ Armenian Street
Cecil Market @ Cecil Street (This was my idea to kill time in between meals, lolz)
888 Hokkien Mee + Oyster Omelette + Popiah @ Presgrave Street
101 Rojak (Rojak Ho Wei Jeng) @ Esplanade

Ong Swee Hoe Duck Drumstick Noodle @ Jalan Sungai Pinang, Georgetown
Just make sure you head out to the eateries earlier for those open in the morning as well as those operating in the evening.
In a nutshell, you might not have a very discernible tongue like the culinary maestro, but works decently fine by following their foodie trail, hehe. Impromptu project at times certainly needs some help on contingency. Again, thanks so much Arthur!!
Looking forward to “lim teh” (colloquial term for yumcha/tea time in Hokkien) with you soon ya!
Besides that, we did go for some café hopping stints in between for some modern-chic caffeine fix in this heritage town. Check it out here: Le Petit Four (love their croissant^^), Moody Cow Café and Lunabar Coffee.

Cheers for now and follow us at Carpe Diem for more ‘food-ful’ discoveries! ℒℴѵ
