‘PHUTURE’ MEAT – THE HEALTHIER AND BALANCED PLANT-BASED DIET
Speaking on going on a healthier lifestyle such as
increasing more vegetables intake or slowly incorporating vegan routine, has
got me into thinking if one day- we could actually enjoy protein diet on a more
sustainable way without harming the livestock.
So when I got to know about Phuture Daging that is spearheading this novice move, I was
instantly fascinated by the idea that their meat is made of plant-based
ingredients that provides a great alternative to your usual protein consumption.
While many people regard this as a recent invention, did you
know that plant-based meat has long been in the market as an alternative
protein since 1970’s with its roots tracing back from diet gurus during that
era?
Just in the United States itself, plant-based meat produced
by companies such as Beyond Meat has tremendously made huge waves when it was
first introduced in restaurants and cafes. Since then, this protein alterative
grubs has received encouraging responses with great enthusiasm that it is now
packages and sold in US supermarkets since 2016. It has now becomes popularly
consumed not just among vegans, but among meat-eaters as well!
Malaysian food technology company Phuture Daging, is thence making plans to follow suit this year in
charting greater public awareness on how to maintain one’s health by leading a
more conscious lifestyle while also taking care in reducing their impact on the
environment.
They are set to be one of the first in the local market to
provide local F&B menu especially SME in introducing and incorporating
plant-based meat into their menu. This would help them to expand its menu for
vegetarian clientele using this protein revolution rather than merely serving purely
leafy greens conventionally.
One of the main ingredients in Phuture Daging’s plant-based meats is
the plant-based protein which is made from a combination of rice,
soy, peas and chickpeas. Carbohydrates from rice and potato starch are
added, along with healthy fats derived from olive oil and coconut oil.
As for the colouring, it is naturally sourced from beetroot and tomato to add
to the nutritional profile as well as the aesthetic of the “meat”. With lower
contents of saturated fats and cholesterol and lower calories from these plant
sources, thou shall not worry about expanding your waistline!
The best thing about Phuture
Daging’s plant-based meat is that it is made in a Halal food production facility with ingredients sourced from
ethical suppliers and adheres to the highest food safety and hygiene standards.
Therefore, you can enjoy them with peace of mind.
The plant-based meat development
is currently undergoing multiple rounds of research, development and trials by
food scientists and researchers around the world, in order to create the
ultimate taste buds and cooking preparations for Malaysians. Phuture Daging also
believes that by practising a plant-based diet will contribute positive impact
to the climate crisis with the reducing affect of food production to the
environment.
