Ecole P @ Uptown, Damansara Utama , Petaling Jaya
Hey boys and
girls, we are back to school again!!
Yeah, that’s
what you would literally utter the
moment you step into this nostalgic yet comfy indie café , Ecole P, that is set
against the theme of our very own local primary school time. Using those
familiar school time wooden tables, chairs, co-curricular scoreboards and not
forgetting kid’s favourite snacks, they are bound to bring smiles to your face
without realizing it. You could also see scrapbooks, erasers, pencil box,
exercise books, school badges and many other cutesy stuffs around you. Even their
kitchen is labeled as ‘Canteen’ next to the Rukun Negara, our National anthem :
)
Oh, do not
worry of getting penalized as the humble Headmistress, Ilrene Tee, is running
around the clock most of the time in the kitchen :P The other cheeky bee,
Steven Heng, who is her compatriot, is also seen running around the clock in
ensuring their guests enjoyed the homey food at premium service.
Some adorable tit bits!
Surprise! You would only find cutleries in the pencil case instead of your expected writing equipment :P
Our maiden
visit here would not be complete without any orders from the coffee beverage.
And so we pamper ourselves with these selection that uses coffee beans from Penang's
Lighthouse Coffee. The coffees are aromatic and tickle your tastebud uniquely
in the amusing way.
Black Sesame Cappuccino ( MYR 9.90)
The idea of
incorporating black sesame into coffee is fresh indeed that boasts a very
pleasant sesame aroma and malty tang aftertaste, without overpowering each
other.
Café Mocha (MYR 9.90)
Amidst the
mild chocolate fragrance of the mocha, you still get to savour the tartness of
the coffee bean itself. Nice body.
Chicken Chop (MYR 15.90)
Coming up
next is the homemade Chicken Chop that is quite distinctive from the rest that
is served at those ubiquitous restaurants. The chicken meat in this case is
breaded with fish biscuit (Yeah, no ordinary but cutesy biscuits) and fried
till golden brown. You get to enjoy the crispiness of the skin but not too
oily, while retaining its tenderness within. When eaten along with some dipping
from the savory mushroom sauce, it’s top notch!
Another
smacking good sides would be the accompanied salad that is regarded as
Appleslaw and also its homemade mash potatoes. The salad is really, really
refreshing when eaten with its own mayonnaise amidst some hints of honey
sweetness alongside some sprinkles of raisins and dried cranberries. I actually
enjoy this variety much more than the usual coleslaw per se.
As for the
latter, I just wish if I could have another extra serving of that scrumptious
mushy and smooth mash for it is really well done with the right consistency of
cream and cheese, and could be very additive too.
Found one the
hidden treasure over the velvet mash potatoes, Fish Biscuit :)
Chicken Tandoori Sandwich (MYR 15.90)
Ensued
shortly would be the main dish of Chicken Tandoori Sandwich. Daintily presented
on a black rectangular ceramic is sufficient to arouse the curiosity of the
foodie. This charming fare served with Foccacia Bread, lettuce, tomato slices,
tandoori, sweet potato chips, and also the similar enticing appleslaw. The
bread is soft in the inside while revealing some light crustiness on the
outside. The chicken fillets that are marinated with Tandoori spices are
equally juicy and tender. For this fare, you must be willing to wait for 15
minutes for the dish to be prepared, fresh from the kitchen. I personally don’t
mind to be bit patient so long the food
is good……. ^_^
Tofu Cheesecake (MYR 7.90)
One signature
pastry that ought to be given due credit is their Tofu Cheesecake. It is very
silky, delightfully creamy with the gentle milkiness from the cream cheese. The
ingenuousness of this mouthwatering dessert is further sophistically heightened
up with the crumbles of biscuits, cranberries, mint leaves and also the cherry
syrup. Simple but surely gratifying indeed.
So far, this
is the best Tofu pastry that I have ever eaten and I have no qualms to come
back for more of their new cake selections next round.
As its French
name depicts, Ecole P would surely stir up some fond memories during your
primary school time and the utensils as well as those chalkboards ornaments
used would surely makes you reminiscing those innocent years of students time :) I would surely be back again for more
inventive recipe in no time, in addition to their current soft launch’s menu
since last December 2013.
One good
guidelines to locate this new eatery would be identifying Village Park
restaurant, as both of them are sitting at the same lots.
I guess it’s time to bid Good Bye to our teachers and fellow classmates for now………………..
