LWIN LEE | NANA’s GREEN TEA @ GARDENS
Konichiwa!
Glad that
finally I have stepped into this “evergreen” cafe, Nana's Green Tea, whose métier is in serving the
best matcha-themed beverage and dessert, besides offering a wide array of delish
mains to complement your meal heartily.
A branch from
the main outlet in the Land of Rising Sun itself, the environment of this café
exudes a very calming ambience against a sleek and chic table-settings, that
provides a good respite from the busy shopping mall. Over here, you really get
a heavy dose of selection of matcha drinks, teas as well as the beckoning
desserts.
I
personally have a penchant for everything to do with matcha (may be slightly on
the dessert side perhaps ^^), especially those that origin from Japan as they
tend to have a milkier palate amidst the subtle fragrance of green tea. If you
really learn to appreciate it, you would find yourselves enjoying the sweetness
of the green tea powder rather than the general perception of grassy taste.
Glad
that this time round, I need not have to pester my growling tummy to wait for
an hour due to the crowd. It’s seems like this place is ever crowded and
enjoying brisk business everyday. So, after some 10-15 minutes, finally got the
seat and ta da, dropping the order without further ado : )
Lunch set is
available every day including weekends between 12 – 2pm. Priced at MYR 18.80++,
the combo comes with a main course and beverage of your choice.
Even a little toddler is fascinated about the yummies! ^_^
LOCOMOCO HAMBURG
Chicken patty
served with warm millet rice with homemade tomato Locomoco Sauce, garnished
with red leaf lettuce capsicum, broccoli and Japanese styled poached egg.
Looks like a
meat patty with cereal rice at first glance, heightened up with a perfectly
poached egg too.For the patty, you have a choice between beef or chicken. As
for me, I go for the latter one accompanied by a good cup of hot Matcha Latte.
Love the goodish
rice served here. This millet rice uses 10 different kinds of cereal mixed with
polished rice and is known to be beneficial to the heart.
The meat
paste is decently smothered in a thick savory sauce that appears rather tomato-ish
to me. Initially, I really thought that it is a slab of chicken breast or
something similar. This then renders a far more mushier texture and lacking in
composition than what I have expected. It could be better if there are more chicken
bites included in the mash in order to enhance the overall chewiness. Ah, some
dashes of black pepper would be good.
MATCHA LATTE
The
hot green tea latte is good, presenting the quintessential taste of a real
matcha.
When comes to matcha dessert, Nana’s Green Tea really up the ante seriously.
MATCHA “NAMA CHOCOLATE” PARFAIT (MYR 19.80)
An artisan
dessert starting with a layer of Kanten jelly and Matcha syrup then topped with
soft serve vanilla ice cream, generous layer of corn flakes and garnished with
a Matcha ice cream, Matcha Chocolate Ganache, red bean paste, whipped cream and
a drizzle of Matcha syrup.
Gracefully
stacked in few layers carefully are the sweet azuki paste, velvet matcha
dollop, some green tea chocolate ganache, loads of corn flakes spicing up the
vanilla ice cream and several more green tea items at the bottom. I must say
that this is an irresistible addiction, sinfully rich especially the matcha
ganache cubes that enticed me tremendously and best shared with your friend.
Love the
cubes lots as it is not overly cloying nor sweet, but every chocolaty bites
comes with the lovely green tea aroma that somehow reminds me of the Pecan Choc Ganache dessert that I have
reviewed at Fish & Co. Utterly
satisfying!
By now,
stomach is full to the brim. Nonetheless, the foodie spirit residing within is
already crying for another return soon, haha. Therefore, until the next visit, let’s get
back to greet our rolled oats first to strike a balance in between (=
