LWIN LEE | YAKI NIKU ISHIYA @ ENCORP STRAND
Whenever Yakiniku comes into the picture, it
naturally conjures up the image of sizzling meat being cooked steaming hot on
the grill, sharing enjoyably with the right comradeship around the table.
In the true
spirit of the celebrating chumminess of delectation, YAKI NIKU ISHIYA JAPANESE BBQ RESTAURANT (pork-free) is proud to introduce to you Japanese
Stone House Grilled Meat, that is specially brought in from Kyoto, the imperial
capital of Japan, showcasing its tantalizing signatures during this review,
which shall be revealed very much soon.
Not only
that, in order to live up to the finest qualities and standards set by the native
team back in Japan who also pays a monthly patronage over here, the whole
roaster set (including the tables) is also particularly imported from the original
country itself, to ensure an impeccable dining experience for its guests.
Yakiniku
Ishiya was founded in the early 90’s by Mr. Reiji Yamamoto, who wanted to
preserve and enhance the flavours of traditional style of Japanese barbeque
with his unique concoction of tare (dipping sauce).
Grilling
session has never been made as easy and comfortable, as portrayed by this
charming, quaint house, imbued with some Zen-ness permeating throughout the
cozy air-conditioned environment. Al fresco setting is also available upon
preference which is just juxtaposed somewhere near the entrance.
One could
expect a gamut of Japanese flairs at Yakiniku
Ishiya, which commenced its maiden foray into Asia market since Dec 2013,
under the supervision of Wallace (Restaurant Manager) and its maneuvering head
chef, who brings with him 7 years of experience in Japanese cuisine.
The two menus range from its signature, BBQ, fresh imported fowls to other ala cartes which includes sashimi, sushi, salad, hosomaki, temaki, yakimono, donburi, men, ramen, agemono, mushimono, shirumono and the likes.
CHEESE
STICKS (MYR 12)
Heavenly gratifying
and irresistibly palate-pleasing with its crispy and thin spring rolls,
wonderfully encasing the melt-in-your-mouth mozzarella cheese, that is slightly
chewy as you sink your teeth into it.
Could have
easily gotten them all down by any cheese lovers, no jokes but simply satisfying!
Double thumbs up!
TEMPURA
MORIAWASE (MYR 26)
A
beautifully beckoning spread of mixed tempura, comprising of mushroom, juicy
prawns, crab filament, assorted greens and the adeptly fried somen that
resembles the corals from the sea.
GOLDEN
DRAGON MAKI (MYR 18)
Deep fried
tempura prawn and flying fish roe.
Something different and inventive from the
usual recipes available at other Japanese restaurants hitherto when it comes to
Dragon Roll. This whole deep-fried dragon-long maki certainly bespeaks a pair
of skillful hands as it seems rather flimsy and challenging if was to be
handled by any novice per se.
Lightly
coated with the tempura batter to give out the slight crunch at the exterior,
whilst whetting palate amusingly with the wrapped vinegary rice within.
Definitely a magnificent-looking flying dragon indeed.
Teishoku-
Chicken Teppanyaki Set (MYR 24)
Juicy and
tender poulets are thoroughly marinated in special flavouful sauce, cooked up a
storm with companion of bean sprouts and juliennes of carrot and capsicums.
Comes appetizingly pepperish and best paired with a bowl of white rice, looking
at its rather saporous gravy.
WAGYU DON
(MYR 38)
Wagyu beef
is sliced and medium grilled in special sauce till just nice, topped with dash
of chopped scallions, served with pickles, miso soup and tomago- laden rice. Savory and succulently
delicious!
Eat slices of meat is very luscious and flavourful indeed! Certainly a well-done tare marination beforehand.
BBQ
PROMOTION -2 pax (MYR 48 ++)
Comes with a
choice of 3 mains, 1 green salad and 2 mini garlic fried rice
BBQ Selection 3 out of 5:
NZ LAMB SHOULDER
SHORT RIB
SMOKED DUCK
NZ BEEF SIRLOIN
CHICKEN
IKA (SQUID)
GARLIC RICE
(MYR 6)
The garlic
fried rice with egg is good. Each grain is fluffy yet fully enveloped by the
unmistakably garlicky kick and hint of ‘wok
hei’ too! So if you can't have enough of it, ala carte option surely
would satiate you plenteously :)
Just adore the bounteous cuts of the smoked duck specially sourced from Japan.
Now what’s
better to complete a sumptuous Japanese meal other than the inhouse made ice
cream? Yea, it seems like I really have a penchant for homemade stuff, for its genuineness
and intrinsic culinary value (=
GOMA ICE
(MYR 8)
Smoothly
whipped up scoop of black sesame ice cream, intensely fragrant and more
flavoursome than elsewhere. Oosihi!
MATCHA ICE
(MYR 8)
An all time
favourite of Japanese’s dessert- creamy and milky with the pleasant subtleness
of the green tea quintessentially. Just can’t go wrong with a dollop of jibing azuki
beans!
Of course, some soothing hot ocha to clear the throat : )
Guess that
pretty sums up the wondrous gastronomic adventure into Japanese cuisine this
round. Overall, food selection is rather vast, munificently served and mouth-watering.
Diners get to savour in freshest ingredients and indulge in relatively thickly-cut
meats that have its respective smell properly managed (as in lamb etc). Should
you on the lookout for a decent place to relish in your favourite yakiniku fare
within a comfy and consolatory confine, do give Yakiniku Ishiya a try!
