LWIN LEE| OKONOMI @ PUBLIKA SOLARIS DUTAMAS
Guess another café has just sprung up recently at the lively
mall of Publika. Joining the new family of the locality is Okonomi, which I had coincidentally bumped into while strolling after
a review session at Yuzen.
Set forth with a chic and classy interior décor, this café is
known for its signature sushi which could be tailored made according to client’s
preference; “Sushi as you like it!”
While I must say the first thing that intrigues me to this café
is due to the fact that they are also serving matcha delights! Oh yea, my faves and there you go….. (=
Still, I guess we ought to try out its distinguishing sushi concept
too, so what’s my roll for the day?
Wanting something healthier, and so brown rice would be a
good choice to make my sushi sampling a creative one at the same time.
BROWN RICE SUSHI ROLL
(MYR 13.90)
Chose uramaki as my wrapping style to go with seaweed,
avocado, seasoned scallop and tuna mayo, it is then drizzled with mentai mayo (my happy eats too) and
spiced up with furikake (Japanese seasoning)- out of curiosity.
I feel that the Japanese seasoning somehow or rather does
resemble the aromatic tongarashi too. Not too spicy but just nice to add some
kick to the overall flavor.
It comes slightly firmer compared to the usual sushi white
rice but having a pleasant texture nuance in place, albeit the presentation
wise could be better.
SOF T SHELL CRAB
PASTA (MYR 16.90)
Angel hair tossed sesame dressing, served with crispy soft shell
crab, fresh greens and ebiko in a nice shaped ceramic bowl.
The noodles were actually overcooked to my liking and the
accompanied goma sauce was tad watery. But luckily the soft shell crab made it
up with decent crispiness and savory.
And it’s time to indulge in my deary enthrallment- matcha! ♥
♥
Was really tempted to give its Matcha Lovers Parfait a try, but unfortunately, tummy
space was pretty scarcely available after back to back review earlier. And so
we settled down with the matcha beverage instead.
Having said that, it’s hard to say no to not ending your
meal on a sweet note, much more when there is this exquisite and innovative
lava cake with green tea in town- Matcha Lava Cake!
MATCHA LAVA CAKE (MYR
16.90)
Matcha white chocolate cake filled with delicious matcha
chocolate molten lava served with vanilla ice cream, homemade matcha chocolate
sticks (bit buttery and ganache-like) and fresh strawberries, doused with
powdered sugar.
The molten matcha lava was seen flowing alluringly upon cutting it up. Cake was moist and fluffy. Best eaten while it’s warm.
I suppose this is my first time of seeing the green tea
version as compared to the ubiquitous selection which used to be only chocolate
base traditionally. But this rendition does pull off deliciously with enticing garnish.
Might be a great alternative to surprise your special date on this coming
Valentine’s other than Grill 582,
which also showcases stellar culinary flair as far as dessert is of concern. It’s
also more wallet-friendly by the way (=
Overall, it was still considered a groovy dining experience,
except some hit-and-miss, which I suppose would be rectified in due time by the
receptive crews. Arigato goazaimasta and should I keep pursuing new matcha
adventures? Alright, let’s see what we could discover and shall keep you guys
updated along the way.
