Takumi Japanese Fine DiningRestaurant which is located at Grand Millennium Hotel, welcomes you into a sleek and cozy environment for an impeccable dining experience from the Land of Rising Sun. Its location is very strategic which is located just next to Pavillion shopping mall, making it very conveniently accessible to all.

As you walk in, you would be greeted by the amiable staff affably while leading you to your reserved table. It exudes a comfortable and warm ambience but with sophisticated and yet chic interior design. You get to enjoy the sense of tranquility and Zen moment, without needing to squeeze with the crowd when you enjoying your meal especially during lunch hour.

There are even VIP private rooms upon request where you could enjoy more privacy with your guests, provided the number of pax is at least 10 people and even up to 20, as they could expand the next sliding room easily. The décor boasts some upscale elegance assimilating decent imperial elements, with golden yellow as its main theme.

Service rendered was pretty good, with the range of hors d'oeuvre being served almost immediately once we were seated down. There were some savory potato salad with chicken breast cutlets, pulpy bean sprouts salad with assorted mushrooms included slices of Shitake as well as Bunashimeji and last but not least,a piece of sweet fried Grouper, which was served chilled.

Next come the main entrée of the day!

Nabeyaki Udon and California Maki Set

This hearty meal came with a bowl of delicious hot Nabeyaki Udon that was also garnished with some fishcake and one fried prawn tempura on the top, with some California Maki that is served alongside Chawanmushi.

The noodles were very silky that you could literally slurp them all in. Coupled with the clear soup had also further spiced up this humble bowl of udon. Not forgetting to mention the delightful pieces of nutritious kelps too.

Saba Shioyaki and Mini Udon Set

Coming up next would be the Saba Shioyaki, that was accompanied by a bowl of mini udon with the unmistakably smooth Chawanmushi.

This set was perfect for me (a huge fan of fish dishes) as the portion was just nice and pampering to my tummy. I enjoy the mackerel being grilled naturally with salt because by this method, I got to savour the natural sweetness of it. Some might not adore the texture of this blue fish but to me, every bite of the firm and flaky meat just got me enticed for more and I would never get tired with it. The good taste of the fish meat was partially due to its higher contents of healthy fats, such as DHA and EPA that together turned it into a very flavourful dish indeed. Loving it to the max!

Some chillies powder to go along with the udon noodle, slurps!

Tori Teriyaki and Salmon Sashimi Set

Ensued soon was the Tori Teriyaki that seems to have been nicely grilled with its glittering glazed skin, wrapping up softly the juicy and tender meat within. For this set, it came with a bowl of Miso soup, rice, a small serving of kelp layering on top of pickled radish, zesty Chawanmushi and last but not least fresh Salmon Sashimi.

The chicken meat was succulently devoured together with the tangy slices of Salmon Sashimi, that could never go wrong with the aromatic but pungent wasabi. The wasabi was very fragrant that leaded us to think that it was freshly grinded upon consumption.

But credits still ought to be honoured upon the Chawanmushi starter that got us pleasantly smittened, for it was perfectly done velvety, almost flawless with the silken surface of fresh tofu. Hidden treasures at the bottom would reveal chunky chicken meat, Shitake and the must-have gingko nuts!

To round up the satisfying meal on a sweet note, what’s best other than to have a decent scoop of vanilla ice cream to clear our throat, besides the subtle hot ocha? Our conviviality was further heightened up with the surprise plate of beautifully crafted fruit platter by the creative Chef Bond, courtesy of the restaurant manager Johnnie Teoh. We were very thrilled by their hospitality and deeply appreciate their cordial gesture. The grapes were very sweet in fact and thank you once again for the gratifying sumptuous food fare, Chef Andrew.

Arigato gozaimasta!
