Chakri Palace @ Pavillion KL, Bukit Bintang.
After
numerous sessions lately sailing through Japanese gastronomy, this round pit
stop has brought us back to the Pan-Asian radar, Royal Thai Cuisine at Chakri Palace, located imperially at
Pavillion Kuala Lumpur.
Sawadikka…………..
This is the second outlet under the umbrella of Chakri Group of Restaurants and Rotol Food Chain (M) Sdn. Bhd., following the successful flagship store at KLCC in 1999. In conjunction with this inaugural media launch, DineOut has extended the exclusive invitation to several bloggers and media acquaintance, to be part of this bon vivant fête, along with the management board; Dato Gary Chua, Ms Caleen Chua and also Marx Chua, as well as the rest of its distinguished guests.
The elegant Ms Caleen Chua giving the opening speech on behalf of Chakri Group of Restaurants.
Guess who did we bump into in between? It’s the sleek Daniel Lee, from Malaysian Idol Champion Season 2, who is very congenial and amicable.
Me, Daniel and lovely Fana.
There are also prominent figures like local distinguished fashion designer, Carven Ong, Adrian Loh, health advocate, Wong Yu Jin and many more. But of course, we think it’s better to give them some privacy at this marvelous night :)
Amuse-bouche
couple with wines as the prelude to the eventful night.
Invitees
are later treated to a sumptuous spread of buffet feast. Among the main courses
that whet our palate are Pineapple Fried
Rice, Green Curry, Pandan Chicken, Seafood Tom Yam, Chicken Feet Salad, Deep
Fried Garoupa with Samrod Sauce, Japanese
Bean Curd with Basil Leaves and many more.
Pineapple Fried Rice
Fragrant
pineapple fried rice served with shrimp or vegetarian. One thing that
captivates me is the sapidness from the fried rice where each grain is
thoroughly flavoured with varieties of awesome ingredients like raisin, cashew
nuts, mixed beans and many more. A simple voluptuous treat indeed!
Traditional Pandan Chicken
Chicken
marinated with Thai spices and wrapped in fragrant Pandan leaves (screwpine).
Green Curry
Chicken Feet Salad
The
affable chef is seen patiently preparing my dish of this appetizing Thai salad.
Just be cautioned, it could be tad spicy that leads to a teary-eyed me, lol.
Nevertheless,
I love the generous helpings on the fragrant leaves.

Tom Yam Soup
This tangy yet appetizing broth could be specially catered to your taste, where you could opt to have it with noodles, either mild, medium, spicy or non-spicy soup. Such a thoughtful recipe especially those who has a balmy tolerance to spicy food :)

In
between, guests are showcased with a Food
Presentation and Introduction by Chef
Nopporn Nutto.

As for the dessert selection, we have the quintessential Red Ruby Dessert, Cendol, Tako, Thai Jelly, Steam Banana and Steamed Tapioca.
Chakri Red Ruby Water
Chestnut (Ai Tim Tab Tim Krob)
Best seller dessert, homemade red ruby water chestnut, sago, jackfruit and vanilla ice cream served with icy coconut milk.

Always love the pinkish hue of this milky dessert!
Tako
A type of coconut jelly.
Thai Jelly
For a second, it reminds me of our local
delicacy “Tepung Pelita”, but it actually differs in the slight saltier taste
on the coconut layer with the lower green jelly which is added with water
chestnut, giving it a more crisp texture.
Steam Banana and Tapioca
Woah,
found one delectable dessert that is close to our heart. Sharing similar
resemblance with our local “Pengat Pisang”, this fare still presents you with
decently steamed banana and tapioca.
The
steamed banana is to be added with the accompanying coconut milk, giving it
some slight briny taste but I enjoy it still :)
As
for the tapioca, I would say the chef has done a great job in showcasing us
perfectly steamed tapioca dessert. It exhibits a soft yet delightfully starchy
texture amidst the mild sweetness that comes along. Thumbs up!
Drinks
to clear the throat, you have a choice of Chakri Fruit Punch or in house
selected wines.

Red
and White Wine
You
can even have a tropical choice over here too; Fresh Coconut Drink! Ahh….such a
bliss!
The night is later heightened up with the Fruit
Carving Showcase by Award Winning Carver by Chef Lamprai Phanphakdee, who never
fails to astonish us with her impressive carving skills.
Some
of her astounding masterpieces.
There
is also a cordial competition pertaining to this delicate skill opens up to the
floor, which I do chip in for the unique experience per se. You see, not often do
we get to have this culinary opportunity, under the guidance of a profound chef.
Though
most of the time we are quite flabbergasted admiring the effortless carving on
the watermelon by Chef Lamprai, we still manage to execute our tasks in good
order I suppose? ^_^
Below are our handworks, under the great guidance of Chef Lamprai. Looking not bad after all huh? At least none of us has our fingers injured during this maiden endeavor, kudos! :)
The work of novice; are you already guessing which one is mine? ^_^
Thanks
to the chirpy blogger, Fana, who
encouraged me in this friendly match so called, and also the memorable
photographs with the group.
As a token of appreciation, participant is presented with a certificate with a MYR 50 voucher intact. Guess we are all winners;- instant potential virtuoso? :)
