LWIN LEE | Spasso Milano @ Pavillion KL

Junketing in buffet fete during normal lunch hour might not sound cliché, due to the obviously time constraint reason per se, but that’s exactly what we have embarked on recently with my fellow colleagues, albeit a simple one at Spasso Milano, one of the few establishment that serves Italian anti-pasti lunch buffet.

This restaurant is located at the sixth floor of Pavillion KL, which is already known for its multi-faceted cuisines, ranging from Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Western to Taiwanese desserts. And for this ristorante, diners get to pamper themselves with the anti-pasti smorgasbord from RM26.80++, which includes a main dish, drinks and free flow from the Anti-pasti bar.

Sit back, and be prepared to enjoy your meal in the confine of cozy and chic surrounding. Love those ceiling high glass panels too.

I would say that the selection of the small plates are relatively wide and mouthwatering, ranging from grilled vegetables, salad bar, soup of the day, focaccia bread and dessert.

Their Aglio Olio Broccoli especially, had warmed the cockles of my heart with its passably wilted texture, which is neither too hard nor too soft, while basking in the marvel of tempting light buttery hint. Good job!

Morsels of dessert unfortunately, were not that plentiful compared to the usual buffet, but remained largely delectable such as carrot cake, blueberry and chocolate cake. I was actually hoping for more like Tiramisu, Strudel and Gelato  Amongst them are the fruity mango panna cotta as well as the citrusy berry version too. These Italian cooked cream desserts were very smooth and velvet, just melt in your mouth. Indeed living up to its ethos as an authentic Italian dining place.

Soups were great!
Golden pumpkin soup was exceptionally sweet, flavourful and comes with agreeably pleasant consistency. Marvelously paired with the freshly baked Aromatica Pizza crepes, loving these to the max!

Minestrone fared not bad too.

For the drinks, we settled down with pineapple and orange juice instead as we were told that apple juice had run out of stock.

Ah ha, finally ushering the entrée to join our table.

Snapper Fish Set (MYR 31.80)
Breaded snapper served with grilled potato in basil aioli.

Crispy on the outside while remaining soft and juicy within. Not too oily and the meat is enjoyably chunky in the middle. Potato wedges that had been earlier dabbed with rosemary herbs were another mirthful grilled companion.

Amatriciana Set (MYR 36.80)
On the contrary, this fusilli plate was not as astoundingly mesmerizing as the former, albeit the fact that the pasta had been decently cooked al dente with bites of savory streaky bacons . First, due to its overly simplistic garnishing that didn’t draw any anticipation, as well as lacking the consistency in sauce. Portobello mushroom also seemed to be somewhat unpalatably grilled, resulted in a more shriveled appearance.

Luckily, the ala carte that we ordered additionally saved the day!

Scamorza Pizza (MYR 34.80)
Smoked Scamorza Cheese, speck, tomato and mozzarella baked in woodfire ovens.

It is simply irresistibly finger-linking good! Generously doused with cheese on piece of crispy base when eaten hot, and tad pillowy when left cold aside. I quite like the rendition of Scamorza Cheese, which is a lusher version of Mozarella in this bake; milkier and naturally cheesier!
Ma ma mia!

As to round up the feast finale, we welcome another pork affair, Valdostana!

Pork Valdostana (MYR 32.80)
An appealing serving of pork escalope topped with baked honey ham, Fontina cheese, vegetables and creamed potatoes.

We couldn’t help but really enjoy the adequately broiled escalope, which still remained tender and juicy. Oh you might wonder where was the fillet, hehe. They were actually laid under the succulent ham as well as the Fortina thin layer, surprise! ^_^

And that marked the end to our sumptuous lunch. Overall, it was alright, just a lill’ hit and miss on the pasta part. Hopefully, things would get better during our next visit then.

Oh ya, not forgetting to share with you guys that I get to enjoy one of this ala carte free (whichever is of lower value), using the savvy deal of BUY 1 FREE 1 apps from Entertainer Malaysia. I just enjoy the flexibility that comes with it compared to the restrictive common online bulk purchase deal, as I get to redeem my fantastic deal anytime, anywhere, so long by 31 Dec 2014. Sounds cool to you too? Feel free to check it out over here : THE ENTERTAINERMALAYSIA.

Till then, have another fabulous day ahead!

Cheers!
