LWIN LEE | PALSAIK KOREAN BBQ MEDIA APPRECIATION NIGHT @ THE SCOTT GARDEN, OLD KLANG ROAD

Being a real buff of Hangeul eumsik myself, this invitation came just at the right time when am hankering over the sumptuous and nostalgic samgyeopsal I had in Busan during a trip in 2014. And the specialty about Palsaik is none other than their signature “8 flavours of pork belly” , that has been the talk of town since its first outlet opening at Mont Kiara.

We were there for the first anniversary bash, sharing the merriment together with members from celebrities, media as well as other invited guests. This second outlet of PALSAIK KOREAN BARBEQUE (BBQ) is located at Scott Garden, in the vicinity of Old Klang Road, and is  the only Korean enterprise that has been patented and dubbed as the biggest Asian food chain serving delicious Korean cuisine.

Palsaik pays special attention to its grilling equipment to ensure salubrious indulgence as well as supreme satisfaction. All the iron utensils are tailor-made from Korean and are sent back for regalvanizing service every quarter to maintain its cleanliness and non-stick features for optimum meat grilling process. These special alloy tray would heat up quickly and have your marinated meat cooked in a short time, before you even realized it.

The pan is actually made one-side slanted to rid of excess oil that accumulates during the cooking process.

Juicy and tender pork meat! My pick goes to the herb marinade ^^

Menu is simple and straightforward here- only 2 pages. Thus, surely helps in deciding order faster :)

Guests get to dine in a cozy and chic environment, accentuated with some private corner and bright embellishments too.

Before the feast actually started, we are served some appetizers; a plate of garden salad drizzled with savory and tart sauce (my bet was mustard relish with vinegar and soy sauce) and cucumber sticks with ssamjang dipping. The reddish sauce is not as fiery challenging as its color might portray as it comes acceptably salty rather than spicy, and goes really well in your vege,  wrapped with cooked meat.

Perhaps some light snacks too- prawns and ginseng-flavoured with the red caramelized nosh the best!

Without further ado, let’s get the much awaited revel started! 잘 먹겠습니다 !

PREMIUM SET (RM 142)
Set meal served with pork belly aged in 8 different marinades, grilled deodeok (Lanceolate root) and tangy kimchi. This combo of seafood soup and vegetables could comfortably serve up to 3-4 people.

8 TYPES OF PALSAIK SAMGYEOPSAL:
(팔색삼겹살)
Ginseng
Garlic
Soybean Paste Wine
Herb
Hot Pepper
Pine Needles
Curry
Unfrozen

Marinated deodeok (Lanceolate root)

SEAFOOD SOUP
Undeniably a delightful pot of treasure, where you could pamper yourselves with fresh seafood such as mussels, squids, clams and prawns, just to name a few. The spiciness is toned down with the addition of doenjang,  that creates a balanced and savory delectation, hovering between hot and mild briny.

I personally love it very much as the soup is prepared with just the right composition of seafood sweetness, spice and chillies, thus making it very appetizing especially when enjoying it with a bowl of rice.   맛없다 !!  (•ᴗ•)

And you could always top up for ala cartes to further completing your fulfilling feast.

CHEESE STIR-FRIED RICE (MYR 15)
Each grain of rice is thoroughly stir-fried before got spiced up with the decadent cheese, albeit it could be better if it’s more flavourful like the one by Mr.Dakgalbi. Taste is quite personal by the way, so have a try of both worlds!

ASSORTED MUSHROOM (MYR 15)
Instantly spruce to joy when seeing my fave mushroom greeting us on the table, erynhii and enoki! Itatatakimas! (=

PREMIUM KIMCHI (MYR 25)
This youth elixir is known for its antioxidant benefits that improves cardiovascular health and digestive system. This recipe by Palsaik is rather unique and comes tad sourish due to the fact that it has been aged only 1 month, and served with some sprinkles of nutritious pine nuts too!
좋아해요! (̑◡◗̑) (̑◡◖̑)

GRILLED DEODEOK- LANCEOLATE ROOT (MYR 30)

My favorite haemul pajeon, specially made by sajangnim’s wife for the special occasion. Trust me, you gonna hook on for more with its engaging yummy bites of octopus, prawns, kimchi and other ingredients that makes a mouthwatering Korean pancake a whole! Deliciously made but not too sure if it’s available in the menu as ala carte. It’s good stuff anyway masshisoyo!!

The perfectly seasoned porks are then grilled on the pan together with assorted mushrooms and kimchi (optional-could be consumed raw with cooked meat too), before wrapping with raw garlic, sliced green  chili peppers and aged kimchi. 진짜 맜있어요 !! 감사합니다…………  ●´`)ノ

Premium kimchi that has been fermented only a month, thus explains its slightly piquancy as compared to those more matured peers but still perceptible. It’s quite sour to be eaten alone, but makes good accompaniment when put it in a wrap together within lettuce or perilla leaves and grilled pork.

Premium Kimchi

The perilla might fool you into thinking it’s of  shiso leaves by the way (=

After a steamy fete, cool chillers are always the perfect quenchers!  (=

CHILSUNG CIDER (MYR 5)
A lemon-lime soft drink originated from Korea that offers a refreshing taste and comes with light soda water sour zing. This lemony spritzer actually tastes very similar to Sprite or 7up, so to say.

For booze aficionados, there are indeed noteworthy selections to tempt you over (=

KOREAN RASPBERRY WINE (MYR 40)

KSD Myungjak Bokbunja (Black Raspberry) Wine.

I must say this Bokbunja ju my favorite pick, crème de la crème! Comes gracefully fruity and seems to capture the heart of the fairer sex more with the sweetness of Korean black raspberry.

KOREAN PLUM WINE (MYR 40)
If you’re a fan of Pinot Noir or Merlot,  this bottle of Korean wine, JINRO Bok Bun Ja Joo, might live up to its Western peers. It appears to be on a more potent note as compared to the raspberry wine, but still mellow to the palate.

An excellent match of long aged fruit flavor and smoothness to go with smokey grilled meats like the samgyeopsal.

MAKGEOLI (MYR 20)
One of the most common Korean booze- rice wine that many are aware of.

It was definitely a jovial red-letter day on this evening, with the participation from Mr Chung and also his charming wife! Everyone seems to be enjoying the repast mirthfully while relishing in each other companion; and that construes the gleeful and togetherness spirit whenever dining at Palsaik.

진짜 맜있어요 !!
