LWIN LEE | HIRO ZEN @ DATARAN SUNWAY, KOTA DAMANSARA
If
you have been keeping abreast with my gastronomic updates, you might notice
that it has pretty much revolved around Japanese cuisine of late within the
locality of Klang Valley. Glad that my tummy is now more receptive of Japanese
cuisine (apart from being an ardent buff of Korean culinary, hehe) and has since
gearing towards this exquisite flair more and more.
This
round of epicurean diary brings us to the sakura-ambianced chic restaurant of Hiro Zen, which is located
strategically at Dataran Sunway, just few metres away from Sunway Giza Mall.
Cozy
environment easily gets anyone into the mood, especially with the calming vibes
that permeates through the Zen- filled establishment. The area is comfortably
huge to promote intimacy over a vis-à-vis session or even foster better
camaraderie with your acquiantances.
VIP
room is also available upon prior reservation.
The
gastronomically fulfilling menu offers a rather wide choice, ranging from traditional
dishes such as sushi, sashimi, teppanyaki, noodles, a variety of set dishes and
set meals prepared by experienced chefs.
The
kitchen side especially sashimi servings, is mainly helmed by Chef Sarman, an amiable and charismatic
host, who has been in Japanese F&B line for more than 10 years now
Without further ado, let’s
have a quick glimpse of what you could expect from this dainty Japanese
restaurant.
Itatatakimas!
Seasonal Appetizer by Hiro Zen!
JAPANESE APPETIZER MYR 10.90
Chuka
Kimuchi, Koebi Karaage (Deep fried shrimp with salt) and Mentai Cube.
The
mentai cube has stolen the limelight with its unique presentation as compared
to the usual rendition like mentai sauce, plus it’s much more springier and
adorably cuter palatably! Don’t’ buy me? Try it out yourself :)
Fresh
sashimi platter!
PEARL SASHIMI MYR 79.90
Salmon,
Ikuro Kyuri, Shiro Maguro, Akami, Amaebi
The
shiro magura and seared maguro were terrific and had warmed the cockles of my heart effortlessly!

Another
stellar appetizer of seasoned baby octopus, delicately rolled within slices of silken
avocado. Oishii!
Here comes the Osuimono treat!
MUSHROOM SOUP (MYR 11.90)
A
bowl of hear-warming soup consisting of 3 types of mushrooms, namely Shimeji,
Enoki and Shitake.
Love
the vintage pot serving, isn’t artistic?
SALMON MANGO SALAD MYR 16.90
Salmon,
kyuri and mango with mayo sauce. Seriously, the chunky salmon cubes are really
fresh!
Yakimono
(Grilled dishes)
HIRO HOTATE YAKI (MYR 24.90)
Grilled
half-shell scallop with inhouse calibrated sauce. It’s very savory, addictive with
a humble hint of spiciness, thanks to togarashi.
GARLIC FRIED RICE MYR 5.90
MATCHA ICE CREAM MYR 5.90
GOMA ICE CREAM MYR 5.90
I
personally render it as the best goma ice cream I had by far due to its
extraordinary nuance- the secret lies in the usage of white sesame too. Made a
beeline for it and let’s not disclose much for your utmost excitement of
discoveries alright? ^^
CRÈME BRULEE
We
were delighted and felt grateful at the same time towards the maestro of the
house for taking the hassle preparing this toothsome dessert specially for us. Of
course, you could also try to request for this special creation by informing
the restaurant beforehand on its availability ya.
OCHA MYR 1.50
Some warm green tea is
definitely welcome to clear the throat after such mouthwatering feast!

Aside from that, if you
love cronuts compatriot like the caramel danish,
you should really check out HokkaidoPastry too. It’s located in the vicinity, same neighbourhood of Dataran
Sunway too. Trust me, you’re bound to hook on for second helping once you have tasted
that fluffy and flaky pastries that is bestowed with the essential buttery
aroma that is light enough to cause any major guilt, so hope you guys like it
and feel free to share your thoughts too!
