Young Art Taipei Award presentation to Dedy Sufriandi
Art Dialog with Dedy Sufriandi

Among the highlights at the Art Project at CAFFA 2015:
• Young Art Award presentation to Dedy Sufriadi - As part of the Art Project, Artemis Art
will present the award personally to Dedy Sufriadi who will be in attendance at this year’s CAFFA.

The award presentation will take place at 11:00am on Saturday, September 12, at White Box, MAP@Publika. Following the award presentation, there will be an Art Talk, where Dedy will share his journey as a visual artist, as well as provide us with a broad overview of the Indonesian contemporary art scene.

• Live Finger-Painting Demonstration by Justin Y – this Malaysian-born visual artist now
resides in Hong Kong, and is a self-taught artist who uses nothing else but his fingers to create
spectacular works of art, emotionally charged by the cumulative experiences this widely traveled artist has had. His fingers act as the channels through which his experientially charged emotions emerge, speaking to us through the textured color compositions that he lays on the canvas. Justin Y will commence his demo at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 12, at White Box, MAP@Publika.

Celebration of Diversity
Primer colour signifies pureness and hence the sheer happiness

• Hari Ini Dalam (my) Sejarah is a group photography selling exhibition by eleven young and
emerging photographers. Malaysia stands proud as as a modern-day melting pot of people, cultures, and religions, harmoniously coexisting in a country that can be best described as colorful. The exhibition provides us a glimpse at the diversity that is Malaysia, and is co-curated by journalist/photographer Jahabar Sadiq and Artemis Art. The exhibition runs throughout the duration of CAFFA from 11 to 13 September, at Black Box, MAP@Publika, and is the anchor event for CAFFA’s CLICKS @ BLACKBOX segment of the festival.

• Vivid presents the artworks by artists living with various types of Learning Difficulties. Conditions such as Asperger's, ADHD, or Autism, render those afflicted different in the eyes of a society that knows very little about these realities. The individuals who live with these conditions often find it hard to function or communicate in a way that is seen as conventional or ordinary. Vivid, in essence, is a celebration of their talent and skills, sharpened through creative practices and the artists' sense of resilience. The exhibition runs throughout the duration of CAFFA from 11 to 13 September, at White Box, MAP@Publika.

• Kanta Box Kamra is a project by photographer Jeffrey Lim, surrounding a self-contained
instant camera made from found waste material. It is a social art project that explores the challenges of constructing and building the device, and making unique portraits. Its ultimate purpose is to function as a mobile photo booth, remotely producing silver prints in the field. Jeffrey will have a Kanta Box Kamra Photobooth set up at White Box, MAP@Publika from 3:30 to 5:30pm on Saturday 12 September. Jeffrey will also deliver a talk about the Kanta Box Kamra project, at 6:00pm the same day at Black Box, MAP@Publika, as part of the overall CLICKS@BLACKBOX program.

To keep up with the sultry weather too, don’t forget to make a beeline for the luscious tasting “Fried Ice Cream” by Freshly Freeze, the world’s freshly made ice cream.

Ice creams are freshly mixed and made on the spot and then got fried on the icy-cold pan before slowing turning those milky liquid paste into a sumptuous scoops of toothsome gelatos- quite an impressive and delectable transformation huh? =) And my fave is none other than the Matcha flavor which boast a chunkier texture in the milky nuance than the usual non-fried gelato. It’s very rich in flavor and milk of course, with optional to add in toppings for more alluring nutty bites!

Choose from Japanese Green Tea, Cookies n’ Cream, Belgian Chocolate and Coffee Toffee from MYR 15 onwards for standard M size, it’s rather a large dollop though, yum yum! Currently there are only four flavours available at their booth in conjunction with CAFFA 2015 but guests could always drop by their outlet at Nu Sentral for more grandeur selections.

Nescafé, the coffee leader in Malaysia presents the Coffee and Art Fringe Festival Asia 2015 (CAFFA) which is held from 11-13th September at PUBLIKA, covering the Publika areas of the Boulevard, The Square and MapKL. This family-oriented consumer and trade event truly celebrates the wonderful rise of the speciality coffee scene, music, arts and culture. Drop by for some educational coffee tasting session as well as indulging in various delectable  F&B booths too.

Cheers for now and follow us at Carpe Diem for more ‘food-ful’ discoveries!  ❤ℒℴѵℯ❤
