LWIN LEE | PALMIER PATISSERIE CAFÉ @ SHOPLEX MONT' KIARA
After discovering a cozy NewZealand-themed café recently at Empire Damansara, now it’s time to get transported
awhile to its neighbouring region for another round of gastronomic adventure, and
am glad to have found that tranquil oasis over here at Palmier Patisserie Café, which is an Australian-inspired French
Café located at Shoplex Mont Kiara.
Embarked with a sleek and lively vibes, mainly revolving around white hue along with some mirthful atmosphere injected by the red colour, this brightly illuminated café with bounteous sunlight offers a casual yet soothing ambiance to its diners who come for both its remarkable French pastries series as well as its savory offerings besides good cups of Joe to complement your zestful enjoyment.
Peter, who is in charge of the
outlet operation, it also a well-trained barista from his Australia stint of
staying, while the pastry kitchen is mostly under the helm of his another
partner, Chef Lim, who learned from the French-trained Australian chef back in
Sydney.
Talking about Australian coffee, one
shouldn’t miss out the coffee beverages at Palmier Patisserie whenever dropping by, for
it is brewed the traditional way and Flat White is highly recommended as it is
the quintessential flavour among the Aussies.
Signature French Pastry- Palmier, that goes really well with any coffee and its crispiness is just so appealing with its fragrant buttery hint completed with a light caramelized-like exterior. |
Flat White when brewed skillfully at
the right temperature, right pressure and right timing, will be able to produce
that velvet crema on the top rightfully, as served the classic way. This aptly
meets the café’s motto that aims to always maintain and back to the classic of
how the Australian has been enjoying their tete-a-tete session over 40 years
ago.
FLAT
WHITE (MYR 9.50)
From Rotisserie Roaster, using the
medium to dark roast from the blend of Guatemala, Yirgacheffea and Mexico. The
smooth crema atop the cuppa is so aromatic and alluringly enticing to the
mouthfeel, no wonder it is touted as Holy Grail in the espresso world. Now I know
how does a good cup of Flat White should taste like, yummm…………..
ICED
CAFÉ FLOTTEUR (MYR 15)
Or enjoy your favourite coffee the
chilled way with the addition of the velvet vanilla ice cream from Tip Top to
spice it up further especially during sweltering days.
Breakfast Set as well as All Day Brunch
is also available to cater to the busy folks of Klang Valley.
The Brunch Set comes together with cold-pressed
juice, alongside fragrantly baked croissant.
Croissant was very flaky, kept us
captivating with its engaging buttery hint.
Tomato Soup with pesto (Basil &
pine nuts), sprinkled with some parsley herbs. It’s undoutedly very appetizing,
with the pleasant piquancy extracted from the fresh tomatoes which has been
pureed earlier. It was very appetizing, rich in flavours hovering between sweet
and sour taste from the fresh fruits.
TOMATO
& BASIL QUICHE
Using European tomatoes to be
lightly sandwiched within the soft eggy filling, served with garden salad and chunky
mashed potatoes on the side. Simply delectable!
What’s missing? Oh, worry not, as
dining here wouldn’t be complete without the participation of the array of
sumptuously baked pastries, yum!
STRAWBERRY
MILLIE FEUILLE (MYR 11)
Flaky and crispy puff pastries that
boast delightfully crispy layers that when sandwiching the custard cream and
the fresh, sweet strawberries, exude a pleasant nuance to the palate. I have
got to say that this is my favourite piece, being an ardent fan of all bakeries
related to puff pastries .
MIXED
FRUIT TART (MYR 10.50)
Filled up the shortbread generously
with satiny custard and topped off with assorted beckoning berries, the overall
flavor is then enhanced by the underlying almond paste subtly.
PASSIONFRUIT
TART (MYR 9.50)
With passionfruit curd to create
that silken, creamy texture, filling up within the buttery and fragrant
shortbread of Palmier’s recipe. Comparatively to Strawberry Millie Feuille, the
citrusy filling here comes slightly denser and more compact with the delicate
milkiness.
Breakfast set are served from 8am to
12pm, with the choice from freshly baked pastries such as toasted ham and
cheese croissant, croissant with scrambled eggs or croissant with roasted tomato soup and pesto,
accompanied by cold pressed juice or hot long black, from only MYR 16 nett onwards.
As for their All Day Brunch Set, it
is served with the mains of your choice (pressed panini, Aussie pies, quiches or
berry salad), together with long black or hot tea, or upgrade to cappuccino, flat
white or café latte for only MYR 3.50.
It was certainly a joyful and
relaxing way to unwind your day (lazy weekend too ^^) nutritiously at Palmier
Patisserie and at the same time, palatably rewarding too. I have always love French
pastries and will continue to do so, perhaps pairing it with a cup of adeptly
prepared Flat White too :) We enjoyed our every moment here and it’s just the
matter of time before we are back for their other promising sweet indulgence. So
if you are looking for some comfort nook to chill out with toothsome repast that
is earnestly crafted, head down to Palmier Patisserie soon and relish in the
camaraderie of your companions.
