CONSTANT GARDENER COFFEE @ LIGHT STREET, PENANG

Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce Building located at Lebuh Light (Light Street), was where I stumbled upon a very conscientious ‘caffeine lab’ that truly spurs up every epicurean both visually and sensuously. Constant Gardener, as it’s called, is constantly brewing their best harvest of noteworthy single origin beans to titillate your discerning taste bud besides offering an array of equally promising sweet indulgence too.

During my impromptu visit after a café hopping nearby, my day was enlightened with the beautiful stories of these cherished beans by the companion of three jovial musketeer namely, Denice (definitely not The Menace- pun intended ^^), Jonathan and Jasmine. They were a bunch of enthusiastic Constant Gardener’s guardian that easily warmed your soul with their affable geniality and of course, their métier in this coffee brewing scene.

Jasmine- the elan lass
Denice- the barista
Jonathan- the mixologist

Watching them, the rangers showcasing their forte was simply an orchestral act of art! Each step was precisely measured and timed in order to yield the intended, perfect extraction. I utterly enjoyed every single moment of it- that’s the best part when you’re sitting at the lounge table directly in front of the various ‘coffee gadgets’! (=

Your cup of Black Coffee Filter here ranges from MYR 15 to MYR 50, depending what beans your palate is hankering for.

SINGLE ORIGIN BIFTU GUDINA, ETHIOPIA (MYR 15)
Fruitiness of stone fruits and clementine, tea-like flavours with hints of sweet spice in the finish.

It’s a washed coffee, thus rendering less bitterness but higher in acidity. With swirling hot water at 98 °C, notes of mushroom and spice aroma greeted your taste bud subtly too.

Before indulging in my sinful piece of morsel, I had witnessed another spectacular classroom project too- guided by the innovative mixologist-cum-barista, hehe. Uber attracted to the playful interpretations that he tried to bring forth from his bartender’s stint, intermixing creatively with the concept behind tea. It’s pretty unique, really! So here you go, the ‘Smoked Citrus Camomile’! ^^

Guests could expect an interesting whirlwind of cocktail, under the inquisitive hands of Jonathon, who is also the mixologist for this humble café.

Soon, wrapping up the fruitful session on a sweet note!

70% CLASSIC CHOCOLATE CAKE (MYR 14)
A dainty piece of dessert, constructed with 70% Belgium Chocolate Cake Base, 70% Belgium Cocoa Butter and imported whipping cream. These grandeur components as a whole created a velvet chocolaty texture that was not overly sweet but suffice to bewitch you with its delicateness.

Really gonna miss this bonhomie enclave for now........................
Fingers crossed that I can be back to Penang real soon!
