TRAVEL- DAY TRIP | CULINARY & HERITAGE TRAIL @ TAIPING LAKE GARDEN, PERAK

It was the second day of Raya Eid celebration (7th July 2016) which I innocently assumed that the festive public holiday should be a great day to support local tourism (after spates of recent travel to Hong Kong and Korea previously), and so we decided to make a quick excursion to Taiping in order to explore more about the tranquil city.

Well, I guess God had already kind of signaled us when the first pitstop we want to go for a simple Hainanese breakfast near Imbi Plaza was rather futile. It was so packed and crowded with people that hardly any empty tables are available for sharing, not forgetting the long queue too. Hence, we have to just resort to a decent coffee-toast breakie nearby in the mall, before we depart to Taiping.

But nightmare on the road never just ceased there. The traffic started to pull up when we are just out from the KL toll heading to Slim River. So I said, “God Bless to us”, hahaha……….

At about nearly 3pm, we were still stucked in the heavy troll, so we decided to why not just stop at Slim River to have some late lunch then? After all, the brunch wasn’t that long ago, so it’s gonna be rice-free session! (=

Looks like just any ordinary Chinese restaurant that you would stumble at any Kampung Baru (newly developed village). It was quite airy and rather friendly as it was frequented by all races.

Some homey meal- Stir-fried Japanese Toufu, Fried Egg with Bitter Gourd and house special Claypot Fish. Overall the food served tasted decent, on the average side and not too salty. However, not many details can be shared here as there was no menu given and the name of the fish was apparently relayed in Chinese, haha. Ok, I got it, I shall brush up my Chinese soon, hehe

What greeted us up next was another massively long traffic ahead, which we thought that it would subside after our lunch. As fate had it, we braved through the horrendous jam and finally reached Taiping Lake Garden (Jejak Warisan Taiping) at a shocking 15 minutes away from 6pm! For a journey that started about 12pm+ from KL, phew…………………………

…………and I just pity the faithful foodie-connoisseur chief who was the sole driver of our getaway, oops! Sorry dear……………………

That aside, we quickly made a dash for some speedy snapshots, before the sun set down entirely, haha.

At one glance, the place looks like any common parks, that were surrounded by lush greeneries, except few nooks and corners that resembles the architecture from China.

This hallmark reminds me of the Busan! (=

There was lots of long dangling giant rain trees that seems to be growing up vertically, reaching out to the lake. I was told that’s one of the uniqueness the tress here. I guess these street trees would definitely look fantastic if there were some sun rays filtering through the leaves foliage on a good, bright sunny days…………….

Soon, we left for dinner which was yet another personal challenge, but we understood it was a public holiday, so…………………….your dishes only arrived after some good 45 minutes, duh!

Some freshly cut guava slices to keep us accompanied through the waiting time.........

………..and that summed up a day of local tourism experience on a public holiday! Cause later, we need to face another crawling traffic on the highway, all the way back to town itself, at unbelievably hour of 11pm to nearly 2am! God bless, hehe …………
