ECOTOURISM | DURIOFARM 榴恋园生态旅游 @ KARAK by ECO STARLAND GROUP

Recently on one Saturday morning, we joined a rather enlightening tour organized by Eco Starland all the way up to Durio Farm (Tong Seng Nursery Orchard) located at Karak for a one-day visit, to get closer to the nature, better environmental awareness  and to get insights on how healthier planting techniques are cultivated at the organic farm. It was an ecotourism plan promoted by Eco Starland.

We first gathered at Mid Valley HQ office along with the other participants at about 8am for registration purpose after which a wristband is provided to each guest for goodies bag redemption upon arrival at Durio Farm about an hour later.  The bus then departed at about 830am in which throughout the journey, we were accompanied by its friendly crew who shared with us the brief history of the farm and explaining some of the rules to Durio Farm visitors, besides some light jokes to break the ice.

Upon arrival at Karak town, we were fetched to the farm which was just 5 minutes’ away by batches in cars. Each of us was given the DurioFarm's travel passport and postcard as mementos where you can make some artsy stamping bearing cute prints on it. In this case- Lwin from Carpe Diem of course! (=

The afternoon started with some speech before Master Tong Thien Seng graced the event with his good humour that naturally spiced up the atmosphere. After some introduction and background sharing, we were led by Master Tong to an interactive tour heading towards the DurioFarm while being introduced to the many kinds of durian seedlings as well as other fruits planting.

And of course, some selfie to commemorate the farm visiting day!

Subsequently after the breezy walk at Durio Farm, we proceeded back to the airy hall for some quick break before the durian tasting time kicks off. As a prelude, we were shared some information pertaining to various kinds of durian's trees and how to recognize them from the exterior. There were some small casual games organized impromptu where our group won an additional Musand King for our indulgent feast, bravo!

Soon after that, participants of the tour were treated to an array of mouthwatering durian feast that showcased varietal such as 101, Kampong, Red Prawn and last but not least- Musang King!

Everyone was seen palatably basking in and enjoying the camaraderie alongside with The King of Fruits! Needless to say, it was a great gathering with durian lovers alike and we truly appreciate those rare moments of get-to-know the Durians better!

The farm was made sustainable on organic fertilizer, allowing guests to consume their fruits worry-free. It’s also a fun one-day outing for both families and friends. For more information, feel free to browse through their website latest events and updates.

Meanwhile, shall be resuming my maiden Perth travelogue soon!
