THE SULTANATE - KITCHEN & COFFEE BAR @ RENAISSANCE HOTEL

The brand name itself embodies the meaning of a state or country being ruled and governed by a sultan.

Located at the first floor of the established Renaissance Hotel of Kuala Lumpur at the brisk Jalan Ampang, Sultanate welcomes you to a rather whimsical flair ranging from Arabian, Mongolian and Russian cuisine all under one roof.

 

The restaurant can accommodate up to 150 pax at one time with various seating in its multi-faceted area of the main Dining Hall, Coffee Bar and 3 thematic VIP private rooms of Russian, Mongolian and Arabian with each having unique design.

 

Cozy and swanky interior imbued with a cross of chic and cultural vibes.

Beef Stroganoff (MYR 35)

Beef strips smothered with creamy sauce and served with rotini pasta or optional rice.

This Russian inspired plate comes with decent mushroom cream sauce that is just nice to give you the flavour without overcloying, to be paired with the sliced beef, which I feel will be nicer if the meat were much tender- that would be perfect.

 Buuz (MYR 32)

Steamed dumpling filled with onion, lamb and special spices prepared the Mongolian way.

Reminiscent of the usual Oriental dumpling, this version from Mongolia distincts itself with its slightly thicker skin that encases juicily minced lamb meat that is well marinated with spices, not too bad.

Medovik (MYR 23)

Russian Honey Cake

As for the dessert part, it is surprisingly tad hard to my liking as I was under the impression that Medovik cake with the fluffy crumbs should be soft as what I have tasted elsewhere. This might need some tweak to it or perhaps, it could be a case of acquired taste if this is the meant for that unique rendition over here.
