FROM “FARM TO TABLE” & “BOAT TO TABLE” @ PASSIONE RISTORANTE ITALIANO, SRI PETALING
Lunch time has always been a headache
to me. Thankfully, I came across one spot for its deserving and sumptuous lunch
set that saves the trouble from rambling which grub to have that day. Not only that
the menu selections are mouthwateringly tempting, but they are also of quality
ingredients whereby they are all sourced locally in supporting our very own
fresh produce sustainability.
Passione Ristorante is a charming establishment by
itself which also happens to be a sister company of Le Pont- a
place when I often frequent for their lovely French pastries besides their Filter
Coffee and decadent cakes!
Serving delicious Italian fusion as
its forte, the interior setting is designed to such a theme of classic and chic
that ensures dining guests a comfortable and soothing space. The multi-faceted
wooden interiors are brilliantly juxtaposed in harmony with modern built-in
fixtures.
What I like most about this eatery
besides serving my favourite Berkshire’s pork, is that they are really walking
the talk, leading by example in supporting local business that eventually would
form a sustainable ecosystem within the local markets.
All their pork is sourced from an organic farm in Kampar, Perak whilst the seafood are coming from Pangkor Island fresh on a daily basis- the island is just some 3 hours' drive away to KL.
The best thing about getting from local supplier means that the food delivered is fresher, as it involves shorter processing time on top of better quality products at affordable prices. The main reason why Berkshire (Black Pig) is more favoured here is due to its better balanced nutrition as the livestock is fed in the most natural way without any antibiotics, growth hormone or muscle drugs. This explains why Berkshire's meat is much tender and juicier than the usual white pig. On top of that, Berkshire meat is darker in colour and has higher intramuscular fat that give arise to its better meat texture.

Berkshire’s Trotters Croquette
Deep fried braised pig’s trotters in
red wine accompanied by capers red wine jus. Served with
rice or pasta.
This has got to be my favourite (as
hinted earlier, hehe) for it somehow reminds me of the delish pulled pork which
is not so commonly served nowadays.
I like the fact that the layer of
croquette is crisply done just nice, not so thick that it complements the braised
Berkshire’s meat well and helps to bring up its flavour instead. It is also very
moist and tender, packed with robust tang that gets me hooked on to it spoon
after spoon. Indeed very well done!
And their pasta is not merely a plain
but a savory one- aglio olio that is done al dente, yummzz!
Fish Bouillabaisse
A warm bowl of seasonal fish and
clams cooked in tomato stew.
I have the tangy Barramundi this time round and served
with a warm plate of white rice. The reddish gravy is done from scratch by
using fresh tomatoes made into puree, hence naturally and appetizingly engaging
that makes it worthwhile for few more carbs intake (=
