Yashi-no-mi Japanese Cafe @ Wisma Cosway, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur

Happy New Year and say a big HELLO to the Year of 2014!

Glad that finally I find some time to share a quick sneak peak of awesome food to signify another new ‘foodful’ year  : ) Guess this time round is the turn of Japanese cuisine that officiates my foodie blog.

After the frequent patrons to Lei Cha fare over here at Wisma Cosway here, finally we stumble upon a new hidden gem in this building. Yashi- No- Mi, one of the few decent Japanese restaurants operating at this office workers-densed place especially during lunch hour.

Thanks to my Mr Cool buddy, otherwise, I wouldn’t have known there is this fantastic Japanese food available here. It is actually located deep into the corner of Wisma Cosway, situated next to Wisma Genting. Having said that, it might not be easily noted as the wooden door seems to be intactly closed and guest would need to slide it to the left before entering. The dim lighting environment at the outside is not helping either. Nevertheless, the food is worth the visit  : )

The restaurant is kinda comfy that exudes some warm ambience around the cool surrounding. Surprisingly, it is visited by many Japanese customers who seems to enjoy the fare here. I guess this restaurant must be serving some pretty authentic and scrumptious carte from the Land of Rising Sun. Even the some of the seating setting is quite disposed to the actual Japanese folks, So, don’t be deceive by its dodgy exterior look : )

And so we try out their table d' hote for lunch, which is reasonably priced at RM17, that includes Iced Lemon  Tea or Green Tea and soup, alongside its main dish.

Firstly, we are treated to the refreshing salad that comes drenching voluptuously in the usual Wafu sauce. It is actually a type of vinaigrette style salad dressing concocted based on Japanese soy sauce, rice vinegar and vegetable oil that arouse some mild piquancy but appetizing though. It also adds some tartness to the bowl of salad that contains cucumber, tomatoes and thinly sliced cabbages. Good way to open up the tummy so called : )

Sipping the delish miso soup pleasantly while waiting the main dishes to come.

Buta Mayo Don (MYR 17 : Add RM 2 for M size)

Arrived piping hot in bowl of hearty meal with the mayonnaise being freshly squeezed in front of you zig-zagly to sorta add some simple garnishment to it. This fare would appeal especially to porky lovers as the stir-fried pork belly is nicely marinated and cooked with decent portion of onions and also gingers to help bring up the aroma. It is cooked with light sauce and laid on top of a bed of fragrant rice. Meat is tangy and remarkably tender. This is quite similar to another menu, Buta Shougayaki Don that comes without the mayonnaise dressing. By having the white dressing, it helps injects some light sourness to it which tickles your taste bud pretty amusingly.

Buta Kimch Don (MYR 17 : S size)

Coming up next is the fusion of Korean elements, oh yea, Kimchi, if you guess :D This bowl of lovesome carte du jour surprises you with the addition of Kimuchi, besides pampering your palate with the similar marinated smacking good stir-fried pork slices. The gusto of the Japanese version of Kimchi actually helps to increase your appetite that allows you to enjoy the smidgen of fatty layers without feeling cloying. The only eye-opening is that, I find myself enjoying more of this Zen-prepared Kimuchi as compared to Korean style, for its recipe is made without fermentation , far less lactic acid, less salted and also less red pepper. And so, I find it less spicy but crunchier!

We have a wonderful meal, with some light chit-chat over the lunch table while briefly planning what exciting activities to fill in our 2014 calender : ) Seems like it won’t be too long before I make a another return to savour the other bill of fare at this evergreen15 year old- restaurant.
