LWIN LEE | MORELLI'S GELATO @ BANGSAR SHOPPING CENTER (BSC), MALAYSIA

Any fans of milky ice cream lovers out there? Oh should I rephrase as anyone that does not love ice cream? High chances are the answer tends to be optimistic affirmatively, no? (=
(*´**)

Brought upon to pamper the discerning taste buds of yours, Morelli’s Gelato with history dated back to Italy has been amusing folks of Bangsar especially, over a year ago with its moreish array of homemade gelato and sorbet.

The Morelli family started making ice cream in 1907 and the exclusive Morelli’s Gelato now has stores located in top cities around the world namely London, Monaco, Bahrain, Dubai and Dallas, USA. Its first Malaysian kiosk trademarked purple and white at the ground floor of BSC is designed in a typically stylish Italian scheme for that sensuous enjoyment.

Using only the crème de la cream ingredients, the premium  Morelli’s Gelato also prides itself in training all ‘gelatiere’, or more commonly known to us as Ice Cream Chef, to ensure they are able to produce gelato in the most quintessential Italian way. This gelato parlour offers guests the freshest Italian gelato, produced every morning daily, right at the store, using the exquisite secret recipe  that has been passed down through 5 generations and all natural ingredients of the finest quality.

Morelli’s Gelato is essentially milk-based and traditionally made fresh daily on-site (as attested by Kiosk Manager, Mr. Edgar) which results in a soft and velvety texture with a richer consistency(trust me, they’re really superb that you gonna ask for second helping!).

It is said that milk-based gelato is generally healthier, contains less fat, tastes lighter and will not dull the taste buds. As opposed to mass-produced ice cream which contains 80% more air, Morelli’s Gelato poised itself uniquely with just 20% only, assuring ultimate indulgence of your Italian ice cream. Blended with just enough air for a texture that’s dense and creamy, it’s the rich taste that promises a longer slow-melting moment of pleasure.

So without further ado, let’s have a quick run-down of what you could expect here, from winsome assorted sundaes to caffeine fix for the coffee lovers out there. While the ice cream recipes hails from Italy, the coffee beans are sourced from South Africa coffee estate, owned by and house-roasted by the Morelli family.

Gorgeous sundae served in Murano glasses.

Dainty Murano glasses are exclusively hand-made glass products that are manufactured on the island of Murano. That explains the stunning design and ornamented coloration of the glass styled from glassblowing, or simply depicted as air-blown glasses.

Does the peppero-like stick reminds you of the puntil, albeit a tempting and chocolaty ones (=

Each sundae is further spiced up with whipping cream accompanied by a swirl of soft vanilla gelato.

For that day, there are only 3 types of sorbet available (Banana, Raspberry Yogurt, Strawberry and Wildberry) while the rest is of milkier gelato with Pistachio as one of the best seller. It’s said that the imported pistachio are priced according to the market price though.

Assorted toppings to go along with your favorite ice cream! Slurps...
Seemingly  common flavours but got injected with Italian taste!

MORELLI’S BACIO (MYR 39)
Chocolate, hazelnut and soft vanilla gelato served with a chocolate truffle, Piemonte hazelnuts, swirls of Magnum chocolate and hazelnut sauce in a chocolate cup, wafer biscuits and fresh whipped cream.

BAILEY’S (MYR 39)
Immediately reminds me of the delish Bailey’s Cheesecake from Buns & Meat.
Hazelnut and soft vanilla gelato topped with chocolate sauce, fresh whipped cream abd a single shot of Bailey’s liqueur in a chocolate cup.

BANANA ROYALE (MYR 35)
Banana, caramel ‘dulce de leche’ and soft vanilla gelato served with caramel ‘dulce de leche’ sauce in a chocolate cup, banana and fresh whipped cream.

Good to learn that the caramelized milk or milk-based syrup is lovably not over saccharine.

BERRY PAVLOVA SUNDAE (MYR 35)
Wildberry sorbet, strawberry, fruit yogurt of the day and soft vanilla gelato served with raspberry coulis, meringues, drizzled with Magnum chocolate, a selection of seasonal berries, and fresh whipped cream.

STRAWBERRY SUNDAE (MYR 35)
Vanilla and strawberry gelato served with strawberry sauce, fresh strawberries and fresh whipped cream.

BUTTERFLY (MYR 23)
Suitable for kids!

If at the same time you crave for icy gelato and need something warm, worry not as Morelli’s Gelato does have a wide range of hot drinks too.

SALTED CARAMEL AFFOGATO (MYR 13)
Espresso served with inhouse gelato. Vanilla gelato is by default, but of course you could seek for other flavours, in this case, I heed the recommendation by Mr Edgar. True enough, the marriage of bitter-sweetness somehow able to strike a balance; resulting is a creamier texture with some hint of saltiness after taste. Fret not, it’s still not as exquisite as the SaltedCaramel from Olle Café which I deem as a cuppa of its own special characteristic appeal (=

NUTELLA LATTE (MYR 14)
Hot, frothy milk with a shot of chocolate hazelnut sauce.

MORELLI’S CAPPUCCINO (MYR 11)
100% Arabica family blend

HOT CHOCOLATE (MYR 11)
Yearn for some cooling iced frappe that is further gratified with a scoop of gelato of your choice? Try this out? Personal preference for this pairing is a swirl of soft served vanilla!

CARAMEL ‘DULCE DE LECHE’(MYR 15)

STRAWBERRY SHAKES (MYR 15)

The menu covers a wide array of sumptuous sundaes served in elegant Murano glasses as well as hot beverages and shakes. There is also the take-away gelato or sorbet litre-packs for convenience. Prices of the gelato start from MYR 9 onwards.

The violet-hued kiosk certainly serves up a range of ambrosial gelato, soft gelato, sorbets, frozen yoghurt, tiny treats and delicious delicacies to take away. You'll locate it easily on the ground floor, centre of the mall by the drop off point. Otherwise, the nearby customer service representative would always be at your hand to assist you. So do swing by one of these days to fix the lill’ sweet cravings in you healthily!

Cheers for now and Carpe Diem!  ❤ℒℴѵℯ❤
