LWIN LEE | KOOSH KOFFEEZ @ PUBLIKA SHOPPING GALLERY
Gracing
the piazza of Publika Shopping Gallery is none other than the month’s old
purplish Koosh
Koffeez that embarks on a endeavor of creative, comfort and chirpy tune. That’s
where the many-enquired-word; Koosh comes about, merely signifying happiness when
dining here.
Everyone’s
curiosity is bound to be piqued upon stumbling its unique name Koosh and each
will come up with different interpretation unexpectedly, as there is a saying
that goes, "Beauty lies in
the hand of the beholder". Don’t believe it? Try post that question to its
founder, Yao Han if you are curious enough like me, who initially thought Koosh
comes from a Russian word, hehe.
Bright and sparkling huge chandelier
illuminates the surrounding and further accentuates the interior grandeur
accompanied by the upholstered wall, chromatic cushy couch and sofas.

Are you ready for some culinary kompendium from the ‘foodipedia’ of Koosh Koffeez?
ROMEO
(MYR 12)
A
romantic marriage of dainty roses and mocha to melt your moment. Indeed a
soothing respite enjoying a warm cup of rosy beverage, while at the same time
reliving back the sweet memories about this Rose Latte that I had awhile ago
over at Le Pont Boulangerie.
BALLER
KOFFEE (MYR 16)
Ultimate
kooshness. Double dribble of espresso served over a Whiskeyball, with a divine
creamer and premium syrup on the sidelines. Kreme supreme! Do expect some
surprise of discerning coconut hint aftertaste. Are you ready for some clairvoyant
and mystical reading from the sphere ball? (=
CHI-CHI
(MYR 13)
Make it
drip. A sensual Asian recipe for sweet creamy luxury, especially those love
milk as their coffee companion. But my personal preference would be the
‘soothsayer’ whiskeyball glass.
And of
course, other beverages for the traditionalists.
ICED
KAFFE LATTE (MYR 12)
KAPPUCINO
(MYR 10)
MATCHA
LATTE (MYR 11)
KARAMEL
MACCHIATO (MYR 14)
ORANGE
JUICE (MYR 12)
DREAMSHAKES
OF CHOCOLATE (MYR 13)
VIRGIN
MACADAMIA MOJITO
Alright,
let’s adjourned and shift the attention to the nosh part.
For
Starters…………….
BRUSCHETTA
TRIO (MYR 25)
Double
trilogy of tomato & basil, foie gras terrine and smoked salmon & dill.
My fave bite-sized morsel would have to be the first one- a foodie who has a
knack for everything to do with spice especially basil (=
THE
MANDARIN (MYR 18)
Juicy
smoked duck served on a goma-dressed mesclun salad, tossed with roasted
tomatoes, almonds and tangy orange segments.
ESCARGOTS
A L’AIL GRATINS (MYR 23)
Naked
escargots, oven-baked in white garlic confit with sharp parmesan sauce, reminds
me of country-styled recipes at DiningHall too.
PUMPKIN
SOUP RAVIOLI (MYR 13)
Roasted
pumpkin flesh, blended with rich cream, and vegetable stock, served with
poached cheese ravioli. Essentially soup for the soup, but I don’t mind if it
comes thicker with the sweet gourd taste, slurps!
SIREN’S
SALAD (MYR 23)
As
alarmingly bold in contrasting dolours, the squid ink pasta salad took the
centre stage with blanched prawns and squid, tossed in a shrimp roe Caesar
dressing. Simply lovely and I enjoy every chewy bites of the seafood.
Alright,
a quick time-out from Western delicacies before we review more and let’s
temporarily get teleported to Mediterranean for some hearty meals.
LAMB
& SUN-DRIED TOMATOES (MYR 21)
Authentic
Turkish pide bread served with sautéed spiced minced lamb, sautéed shimeiji and
white button mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, hummus, garlic aioli, sour cream
and salsa. Aromatically sautéed mushrooms taste wonderfully done, alongside the
saporous spiced minced lamb too, no gamey taste at all but uber yummy!
GRILLED
CHICKEN & MUSHROOMS (MYR 19)
A
different rendition from the former one, this plate came with healthful grilled
chicken slices, to be paired with authentic Turkish pide bread served with
grilled chicken, sautéed shimeiji and white button mushrooms, sun-dried
tomatoes, hummus, garlic aioli, sour cream and salsa. Love everything that
comes with sun-dried tomatoes as these cherries never fail to inject that
unmistakably piquant but delightful nuance to any dish.
Koosh
Koffeex is also serving All-day breakfast too, so no worries to the late-risers
during the weekend, hehe.
EGG BEN WITH SALMON & ASPARAGUS (MYR 23)
Poached egg in Hollandaise, with smoked salmon, chicken bratwurst, buttered asparagus, sautéed shimeiji and white button mushrooms, roasted tomatoes and toast. Among the tasty composition
that tickles me the most after the bacon are the bratwurst which tasted stellar
and decently pan-fried locking the juiciness within each bouncy bites.
KING KRAB
(MYR 33)
Whole
soft shell crab karaage atop a hill of roasted sesame
spaghetti. The sauce was pleasantly creamy and not overwhelmingly thick, goes really well with the deep fried crustacean.
CINNAMON
BOLOGNESE (MYR 23)
A
sensational Bolognese of minced lamb (optional chicken), sun-dried tomatoes
with a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg.
KARBONARA
(MYR 23)
Beef and
duck bacon swirled in signature carbonara cream, enriched with sharp parmesan
and topped with an onsen egg.
SMOKED
DUCK IN TOMATO-CAPER CREAM (MYR 25)
Thick
slices of smoked duck breast swirled in a creamy tomato-capers sauce.
Love their thin-crust pizza too!
ACAPULCO
(MYR 25)
Grilled
chicken and sun-dried tomatoes in handcrafted pesto, on crispy tomato-infused
dough.
KASABLANCA
(MYR 25)
Moroccan
favourite of cumin-fried minced lamb, with sour cream, capsicums, onions, and
jalapenos on crispy tomato-infused dough.
LAMB
SHANK IN COFFEE STEW (MYR 45)
Tender
lamb shank basted in a coffee stew with carrots and onions, then drizzled with
a special espresso glaze on chunky mashed potatoes. The meat is amazingly
tender and flakes off easily as we fork through it, together with the gravy
which tasted slightly on the sweet side. So it’s good for those who are gamed
some sweet-salty flavours.
PEPPERCORN
STEAK (MYR 38)
200g of
thick prime sirloin, grilled to perfection, with a rich peppercorn gravy,
dripping juices on a bed of fries and buttered vegetables. Love the fries that
are sprinkled with Peri Peri Salt, igniting the craving for some savory snacks.
Inhouse-calibrated
handcrafted gourmet waffles for dessert!
TYRAMISU
(MYR 18)
Espresso-infused
waffle topped with mascarpone, dark chocolate shavings, strawberries, whipped
cream, vanilla ice cream and espresso-dipped lady fingers with a dusting of Arabica
powder.
JAMES’
BROWNIES (MYR 18)
Sensational
chocolate waffle riddled with brownie pieces, topped with toasted marshmallows
and almonds, chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate syrup, whipped cream and
vanilla ice cream.
In times
to come, there would be a stage joining the princely nook to serenade diners
both palatably and sensuously with some live band of soulful melody. As its
motto goes, “Miracles in your mouth”, so princess and prince, are all hailed
and welcomed to dine and drink over here at Koosh Koffeez any time to unlax
yourselves over some scrumptiously prepared feast.
