LWIN LEE | CHIN SWEE CAVES TEMPLE @ GENTING HIGHLANDS, PAHANG, MALAYSIA
Located
4,600 feet above sea level and at the most scenic site of Genting Highands, the
Chin Swee Temple is the perfect getaway for those who would like to escape from
the hustle and bustle of city life. A Taoist temple, the Chin Swee Caves Temple
is situated on a 28-acre plot of rocky forested land donated by Genting Group
founder, the late Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Lim Goh Tong. The Chin Swee Temple was officially opened in
1994 after 20 years of continuous development by the then Minister of
Transport, Tun Dr. Ling Liong Sik.
Overlooking
the lush green slopes of virgin forests, the Chin Swee Caves Temple takes full advantage of a picturesque setting on the hills by giving its guests a guaranteed
sense of serenity during their visit.
SCENIC
ATTRACTIONS
Among
some of the attractions one can find at the Chin Swee Caves Temple includes the
newly-built observation square called the Sky
Terrace. Spanning across 35,000 square feet, the Sky Terrace was built for
guests to take leisure walk among the ‘clouds in heaven’. A large statue of the
late Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Lim Goh Tong, erected in honour of his dedication to
the Chin Swee Temple, stands tall in the vicinity of the Sky Terrace.
Right
at the entrance, the beautifully-carved Nine-Colour
Dragon Wall of Luck greets visitors to Chin Swee Caves Temple. Each of the nine
dragons has different shades of color and according to Chinese folklore; each
color represents a special type of luck.
Within
the vicinity, the large statues of Buddha
and Guan Yin stand tall behind the five-story Temple. Besides praying to
both Buddha and Guan Yin, devotees can
also pray to a black seated statue of Reverend Master Chin Swee, which is found
inside the Temple.
Just
a few feet from the entrance, one could not miss the iconic 9-storey Pagoda, which is decorated with hundreds of
Buddha figurines. Inside the Pagoda, visitors can find 10,000 blessing lamps
installed for devotees of the Temple to dedicate to those that they would like
to be blessed by Buddha.
Perhaps
the most popular tourist attraction at Chin Swee Caves Temple is the
educational Journey to Enlightenment that
depicts the Ten Chambers of Hell.

Oh yeah, they do have the Registration Office (=
According
to Chinese belief, the soul of a dead person would be sent to the First Chamber
of Hell and his past deeds would be screened by Chin-Kwong-Wang, the King of
the First Chamber, who would decide whether or not and where he should receive
punishment. A good soul would be sent for rebirth in the Heavenly Realm and an
evil soul would be sent to one of the remaining nine chambers of Hell, each
empowered to impose various degrees of punishment.
