LWIN LEE | ANTIPODEAN @ MID VALLEY
Much
have been heard and said about this chic and cozy café that goes stylishly by
the name of Antipodean, accentuated
by its multi-faceted interior design, touched up with some rustic country style
feel.
There
is also a nook that comes with more voguish theme if you prefer.
A
rather al fresco dining cafe, the place is comfortably casual and
well-ventilated, further enlivening diners with fresh air, every now and then.

order from the kitchen of Antipodean, shall we? (=
BUFFALO
MOZZARELLA SALAD MYR 24
An excellent appetizer that gently tickle your
palate with the fairly mild buffalo mozzarella that comes with bit of tang, gracefully
captivating with its distinct flavor that goes incredibly well with olive oil,
basil, tomatoes and coarsely grounded pepper. Like what the Italian says, Fior di latte- the flower of milk that
signifies the milky creamy wonderfulness of buffalo cheese. Ma ma mia!
NICOISE
SALAD MYR 18
Definitely a healthier
plate to substitute your usual mayonnaise-rich dressing salad. Comes with
chunky tuna flakes that are further infused with Italian flavours-fresh olives,
sweetened balsamic reduction, generously diced tomatoes with soft potatoes atop
of crunchy French beans.
PUMPKIN
SAGE & FETA PASTA MYR 18
Fans
of this golden fruit would relish in this pasta dish. Paired with naturally
sweet and mushy pumpkin cubes, yummily mixed with sage and conchiglie, added with
some black pepper to taste along with the chewy feta cubes, heavenly!
EGGS
MARLBORONAN WITH SALMON MYR 24
Late risers could still enjoy their
breakie which is available all-day long at Antipodean Café. The wholesome plate
is made up of the unmistakable perfectly poached egg, resting graciously on top
of fresh smoked salmon coupled with special Hollandaise sauce and Italian bread
dipper- olive and balsamic vinegar on
the side.
ASPARAGUS
WRAPPED IN BACON WITH SCRAMBLED EGG MYR 20
Oh so juicy bacon streaks deliciously wrapped around
crisp asparagus, spiced up with smooth and wobbly when cut-open omelette,
ideally accompanied by fragrantly
toasted whole meal slice.
AVOCADO
ON TOAST WITH GRILL TOMATO BACON MYR 18
Finally, saw my fav here, avocado!
Finally, saw my fav here, avocado!
Thought it’s not served as guacamole over here, this
pairing of healthful avocado paste with tomatoes and delish baked bacons
enriched with special red relish and toastie- is pure bliss!
LIME
INFUSED LAMB KEBAB WITH GOLDEN COUS COUS MYR 24
Wow, the unexpected encounter- kebab!
The lamb cutlets are really well-done for the gamey
taste has been properly handled and instead brilliantly injected with the
citrusy of lime for that sharp ‘citron
vert’, as the French calls it.
The cous cous prepared
such way projects a much sweeter and fruity taste, due to the addition of puply
raisins.
GRILLED
CHICKEN WITH TOMATOES, GREEN BEANS AND BALSAMIC VINEGAR MYR 20
Juicy
and tender slab of thoroughly marinated chicken fillet, decently grilled before
finished off with some pepper and savoury sauce.
Some
of the inventive and vibrant healthy juices (MYR 12
each) to make up your day less guilty after a
marvelous feast!
SLICE OF HEAVEN- CARROT, APPLE, GINGER, PEAR
TOLAGA BAY SUNRISE- ORANGE, BANANA, STRAWBERRY
JOANNA’S
LIPS- CELERY, GINGER, CARROT, BEETROOT
Of course, a fantastic
repast wouldn’t be complete without any sweet note.
Delectable array of inhouse-baked
cakes are available near the counter, using recipes handed down by famous Kiwi
chefs (and relatives).
BALINESE DATE CAKE with BUTTERSCOTCH MYR 12
This is one of the best-sellar by
Antipodean, Balinese date cake that might be rather dry if without butterscotch.
CARROT
CAKE MYR 8
Served with citrusy grated lemon frosting which
am alright to go without for the cake is already a joyful and fluffy bites
itself.
BANANA BREAD with CREAM CHEESE & HONEY MYR 8
Never thought that my fave cream cheese could be so
toothsomely paired this way- with banana bread which is then further made more
gratifying with honey drizzle. What a terrific mariage, thumbs up!
As for the grand finale, we tried
the freshly brewed cuppa to wash down the throat before calling it a day for
that evening.
CAPPUCINO
MYR 10
MOCHACHINO
MYR 10
CAFE
BICERIN MYR 10
Overall, food was good with appropriate portion,
tastefully wonderfully amidst the relaxing environment. Surely looking forward
to another return.
